Job Description
The Ares Secondaries team specializes in secondary market transactions of private equity, real estate, and infrastructure investments with AUM of approximately $22 billion as of December 31, 2022. The Portfolio Analytics team is currently looking to hire a Manager to join our dynamic Finance team of approximately 40 professionals located in our West Hartford, CT, Boston, MA and New York, NY locations.
The Manager/Senior Manager will help oversee and develop junior team members, as well as engage with key team members across Secondaries Deal Teams, Accounting, and Investor Relations. The ideal candidate will possess private equity or real estate fund or fund of funds experience with an understanding of fund reporting, basic partnership accounting, and performance metrics. This role will require a dynamic, adaptive, and agile hands-on professional who enjoys a fast-paced rapidly growing environment.
Primary functions and essential responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supervise analysts and associates
- Provide ongoing training and feedback to staff and interns
- Work with investment professionals to assist in portfolio monitoring
- Perform detailed review of quarterly investment report valuations, including diversification metrics as well as valuation gains and losses
- Prepare or review documentation for quarterly investor reports, as well as performance returns at a portfolio and fund level (TWR, IRR, Multiples, etc.)
- Review and understand complex fund vehicles and structures
- Prepare or review analysis of valuation changes and drivers across portfolio investments
- Process investment amendments/consents with investment professionals
- Participate on investment update calls and prepare/review memo summary
- Review data utilized by Investor Relations as part of investor presentations and fundraising efforts
Qualifications
Education:
- Minimum of B.S. degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting
- MBA, CFA, or CPA is a plus
Experience Required:
- 7-10+ total years of related financial experience, which may include public accounting
- 2+ years of experience working in private equity or private real estate industry strongly desired
- Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office, eFront Software a plus

Compensation
The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.
$150,000 - $180,000
