Team Impact

 

In collaboration with the Vice President of Physician Network, this position will be responsible to lead the strategic development of the Glens Falls Hospital Medical Group (GFMG) as well as strengthen the relationship among community provider partners and as well as those within the Albany Med Health System (AMHS). This position is responsible for the operational, financial, quality and administrative leadership for effective governance and operational structure to achieve the individual practice, overall GFMG and as applicable organizational goals.

Responsibilities

 

Strategic Planning, Development, Growth:

  • In conjunction with the VP Physician Network: develops, implements, and monitors the long- and short-range plans to support the AMHS, GFH and GFMG philosophy.

  • In conjunction with the VP Physician Network, creates and implements the strategic and tactical plan for the governance, growth and development of the medical group including partnerships with local independent medical groups and those within the AMHS.

  • Development of all new practice locations as well as any closures ensuring all regulatory and operational aspects are covered.

Physician Recruitment, Retention, Relationships, Contracting:

  • Oversight for the Physician/APP recruitment and employment cycle including identification of qualified candidates, terms/offer letter/contract, onboarding to include coordination with Medical Staff / Insurance Credentialing, introduction to the medical and patient communities.

  • In conjunction with the VP Physician Network, sustains the Provider Compensation Philosophy and provider compensation structure staying abreast of the evolving payment structures.

  • Calculates the blended rates for all new and renewal contracts for groups and individual providers.

  • In conjunction with the finance department, calculates and executes the biannual variable compensation including the productivity to compensation comparisons for review.

  • Execution of an effective retention program to include frequent and personalized relationship building activities.

  • Ongoing planning for programmatic growth and timely succession planning.

  • Works with the AMHS partners and medical community partners in leased/intercompany arrangements for optimization of patient access.

Operational and Financial Management:

  • Oversee the operational and financial management of all practices - partnering with the directors, managers, and providers to develop and sustain the annual budget, capital budget, charge capture, coding optimization via risk coding initiatives and CPT assignments, provider productivity, staffing ratios etc.

  • Early identification of adverse practice trends and works with leaders to develop and implement effective plans of correction.

  • Leads the value-based arrangements including the empaneled patient (PMPM) and quality financial aspects.

Human Resource Management:

  • Ensure proper staffing plans to meet the community and practice needs utilizing standard benchmarks.

  • Develops appropriate job descriptions to meet the needs of the practice and recruits to qualified candidates.

  • Ensures that staff have appropriate licensure, skills, credentials and certifications to fulfill their job description.

  • Manage job performance and conduct of employees by providing clear direction, oversight, recognition and carrying out corrective actions in a fair and consistent manner.

  • Encourage continued education and growth of all employees within GFMG with a focus on acknowledgement and recognition.

Quality and Performance Improvement:

  • Responsible for the oversight, implementation, monitoring and sustainability of the quality and performance improvement initiatives for GFMG.

  • Responsible for the GFMG outcomes for NYS DOH and DNV.

  • Responsible for the preparation and outcomes of programs and value-based agreements. This includes those such as the Adirondack ACO, Honest Health Reach ACO, Healthy Alliance, MIPS (practice and hospital based), PCMH and other similar programs as they arise.

  • Works with Directors to ensure compliance and on-going program specific certifications such as the Stroke Certification, Committee on Cancer Care, Cardiology etc.

  • Steers the patient experience (CGHAPS) results and any needed performance improvement initiatives.

Current practices as of 1/1/2026:

  • Primary Care Pillar: 7 locations = Cambridge, Corinth, Granville, Greenwich, Hudson Falls, Salem, Whitehall

  • Medical Specialties and Service Lines: Oncology (Glens Falls, Care Lane, Malta, Cardiology, Neurology/Stroke, Surgical PA

  • Surgical Specialties: ENT/Allergy, General Surgery, Plastics, Urology (Recruiting for Thoracic and Breast)

  • Hospital Based: Hospitalist, Pediatric Hospitalist, Pulmonology, Palliative Care, Behavioral Health (Providers only), Intensivists

  • Community Based Care: Health Home

 

Education/Accredited Programs

  • Advanced degree in business management, healthcare management, or related field

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in physician practice management, including five years in the administration of a large multi-specialty practice.

  • ACMPE and PCMH CCE certification required and/or obtained within 1 year of employment.

  • Seasoned decisive leader with the ability to successfully operationalize a physician led organization.

  • Ability to recruit providers, negotiate complex business relationships and provide operational expertise to provide metric-driven leadership for the financial, quality, and patients centered aspects.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish productive and collaborative relationships with physicians, APPs, nursing, Sr. Leadership, internal and external business partners, and operational staff.

 

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations

  • Valid driver’s license

 

Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent communication and personal interaction skills with proven experience of positive interactions with physicians, APPs, nursing and leadership groups.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills

  • Strong organization skills including operational and motivational.

  • Strong analytical abilities

 

Salary Range
The expected base rate for this Glens Falls, New York, United States-based position is $175,000 to $195,000. Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.
