The LME’s Market Data business line manages direct licensing, sales and customer support of the Exchange’s Market Data Services globally with relationships covering both global data vendors and specialist metals information providers as well as sales administration for real time data applications, data feeds and services.

The Head of Market Data is seeking a highly motivated, well organised professional to join this dynamic business unit. This is a key role within the team in analysing strategic issues and provide quantitative and qualitative analysis and recommendations based on market analysis and client feedback.

Responsibilities:

Market Data Business Development

  • Directly supporting the Head of Market Data, have a key role within the team providing strategic analysis and recommendations based on market analysis and client feedback
    • Typical scope of projects include: new service development/enhancements, new business opportunities and partnerships
  • Create impactful reports and presentations to communicate with senior management and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrate capability as an SME in market data topics, pro-actively problem solving queries from internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop understanding of participant’s business models from an operational, commercial and regulatory perspective, identify evolving market needs and developments in the space
  • Stay abreast of global market data topics across financial markets and produce high quality analysis on industry best practice
  • Leading product delivery of the identified projects from conception to launch, including:
    • Identify business opportunities through active market engagement and strategic review of commercial and regulatory developments
    • Drafting the business case and articulating the business requirements
    • Work closely with the IT colleagues, identifying gaps and stress points in the delivery process and engaging and negotiating with key stakeholders to ensure successful and timely project execution
  • Support existing historical data process, including data management, ownership of documentation, admin support for customer queries and sales
  • Developing close relationships with external stakeholders at all levels to identify product or service development opportunities

Team input

  • Take a key role in the activities of the Market Data team within the organisation
  • Support the Head of Market Data and the wider team with the initiatives and projects the team are working on
  • Adopting and promoting the organisations core values
  • Communicate fluently and confidently at all levels internally and externally
  • Coordinate with other staff in similar positions to share best practices and industry knowledge
  • Have a good understanding of the products and services offered by the LME and LME Clear, principles of market data licensing

HKEX Group 

  • Build and maintain strong and collaborative working relationships with teams at HKEX to leverage people and processes across the group
  • Support the HKEX Group in the delivery of the global business agenda agreed with the HKEX and subsidiary boards

Qualifications Required:

  • Degree-level educated

Knowledge and Experience Required:

  • Knowledge of the regulatory developments affecting commodities and financial markets
  • Demonstrable experience of engaging with senior stakeholders at clients to develop industry-supported products and services
  • Knowledge of market data and data services is preferred
  • Demonstrable experience of presenting in front of senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrable experience of managing complex projects and delivering on time
  • Prior project management experience is desirable
  • Prior Business Development experience is desirable
  • Familiarity with data services and/or the metals industry and trading, especially the LME market, is desirable

Skills Required

  • Demonstrate keen commercial awareness
  • Build and develop positive working relationships both internally and externally at a senior level
  • Strong presentation and written skills with ability to present information and facts in a logical and analytical manner
  • Good communicator and active listener – ability to communicate at all levels
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team depending on project requirements
  • Excellent knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel
  • Excellent working proficiency in English. Other language skills an advantage, albeit not essential

  • Experience and proven ability to operate and influence in a complex and diverse stakeholder environment; building and maintaining effective relationships/networks at all levels of the organisation
