An Assistant Vice President (AVP), Accounting Manager at Axos Financial directs day-to-day accounting operations, month-end closures, and prepares workbooks to support regulatory reporting. They ensure GAAP and regulatory compliance, manage internal controls, fulfil requesting by SOX, internal and external auditors, and supervise accounting staff to drive process automation and financial accuracy.- Oversee the preparation of internal financial statements, and provides inputs to Call Reports, SEC filings (10-Q/10-K), and complex regulatory schedules.
- Assist in executing the month-end/quarter-end and year-end close process ensuring accuracy, timely account reconciliations, and overall ledger integrity as directed by accounting senior management Execute and monitor the accounting operations of Axos Financial and its subsidiaries, including but are not limited to the production of complete and accurate financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and the compliance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Assist accounting senior management in maintaining and updating a documented system of accounting policies, procedures and process documents
- Support the timely and accurate completion of the call report, Y9C, and other regulatory inquiries from the OCC, Fed, FRB, etc
- Develop and maintain internal financial controls (e.g., SOX) and serve as a liaison for SOX, internal and external audit testing.
- Complete review and release of specified manual journal entries
- Complete review and approval of analytical reviews
- Complete review and approval of account reconciliations
- Prepare or review consolidated statement of cash flows
- Implement new accounting systems and integrate current systems to reduce manual processes and automate controls
- Leverage Oracle SmartView and Claude.ai to improve operating efficiencies
- Assist with special projects as directed by accounting senior management
- Prepare support for independent public accounting auditors and internal auditors as directed by accounting senior management
- Prepare and review documentation to support regulator’s information requests and assist with response to regulators
- Mentor, train, and manage accounting staff, ensuring departmental objectives are met
- Manage a team of 7-12 staff and senior accountants

Skills Required
- Knowledge of GAAP and regulatory accounting
