Hudson River Trading (HRT) is seeking an experienced AV & Conferencing Systems Engineer to join our Enterprise Technology team. This individual will serve as an AV subject matter expert helping to provide seamless & efficient technology experiences to HRTers regularly and reliably.
As an AV & Conferencing Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, operation, support, and administration of AV (audio-visual) and UC (unified communications) technology in our global offices; this requires extremely close teamwork and global collaboration with Enterprise Tech and People Operations counterparts. The ideal candidate for this role is accustomed to working (and thriving) in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert for audio-visual issues and a resource for company-wide AV/UC information (both reactively and proactively)
- Assist with global systems design, builds, installs, and refreshes
- Serve as a systems administrator for supported UC platforms
- Develop and refine both hardware automation and software integrations for AV/UC
- Leverage data from AV/UC tech to build next-gen solutions to complex problems not served by out-of-the-box products and services
- Provide technical support and coordination assistance for live and hybrid events
- Perform physical room checks and preventative maintenance on shared AV/UC equipment, documenting and escalating issues as necessary
- Deliver feedback on existing technology (pain points, user errors, etc.)
- Respond to relevant support tickets and service requests
- Identify recurring AV/UC issues and/or sources of user-error and engineer them away
- Conduct technical evaluations of new equipment grounded in HRT AV standards and HRT culture
- Collaborate regularly with third-party development teams and internal stakeholders
- Create and maintain thorough and accurate documentation on supported systems and platforms
- Consult on third-party AV requirements and contracts for offsites, large events, etc.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with operation and design principles of commercial audio-visual (AV) and unified communications (UC) systems with control processors, touch panels, microphones, video-wall displays, matrix switchers, cameras, VTC codecs, audio DSPs, projectors, etc.
- Demonstrable experience writing, debugging, and modifying code
- Ability to troubleshoot audio/video signal flow calmly, efficiently, and often independently
- Excellent cross-functional communication and customer service skills
- Ability to solve intricate problems with creative solutions, frequently leveraging technical expertise outside of the AV/UC realm
- Advanced knowledge of networked systems/topology, end user hardware, telephony/VoIP, and Windows/Mac/Linux platforms as they relate to AV/UC
- Proficiency interpreting and modifying schematic documents, detail/elevation drawings, etc
- Unbridled enthusiasm about release notes, firmware updates, and discovery of lesser-known features in a well-written manual
- Experience with verbose log analysis and collaboration with external engineering teams
- Flexibility to learn and adapt to new systems and technologies as they emerge
- Ability to move or transport up to 50lbs, climb ladders, and crawl under installed furniture as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Live broadcast video/audio operation
- Advanced Zoom Rooms operation and management
- DSP configuration/scripting (QSC, Biamp, Shure, BSS, etc.)
- Enterprise telephony administration
- Crestron Programming (SIMPL, S+, S#)
- Extron/AMX/Savant system design
- Knowledge of AVoIP protocols and best practices
- Lua or Python programming for audio-visual
- Experience with REST APIs, JSON
- Live sound mixing, wireless frequency management, room EQ, etc.
- Group Policy administration
- Rack fabrication, cable termination
- Basic AutoCAD & Revit
- Video/audio editing and post-production
- Cisco CCNA or similar networking baseline
- AVIXA CTS-D, CTS-I, or both.
- MTR design and TAC administration
- Hands-on experience with and conceptual grasp of H.323, SIP, and WebRTC
The estimated base salary range for this position is 150,000 to 250,000 USD per year (or local equivalent). The base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role will also be eligible for discretionary performance-based bonuses and a competitive benefits package.
