We are looking for an Audio/Visual (AV) Engineer to design, implement, and support our robust and resilient AV infrastructure. Technology is a key component of Jane Street’s core business and our AV needs are evolving as we grow, from traditional conference rooms to sophisticated trading floor environments and hybrid collaboration spaces.
In this role, you will be responsible for all AV systems, collaboration platforms, and teleconferencing services, including complex event spaces (500+ person auditoriums), standard meeting rooms (4-50 person capacity), huddle spaces, trading floor communication systems, live event support, and digital signage/IPTV networks. You should be passionate about the AV technology space and eager to help solve business issues by researching, testing, and implementing cutting-edge technologies in a fast-paced financial environment.
The scope of this role is broad and will rely on you to act as a subject matter expert for AV systems, from maintaining and supporting our existing technologies to developing design standards for new and expanding spaces. You’ll be expected to provide exceptional technical support, whether during a field installation or while troubleshooting directly with end users. Our AV Engineers also coordinate closely with our Technology and Infrastructure teams during expansion projects to ensure the infrastructure needs of each project are met.
Our team is composed of AV generalists, and the expectation is that anyone can help across all of our “verticals” (builds, operations, event support). While this role will spend most time in the expansion/builds space, in order to be successful in the role, you will need to be comfortable with changing between focuses and providing support (operational or event) where needed.
About You- Have a deep and broad understanding of enterprise AV, ideally with experience supporting workplaces that have numerous conference and collaboration spaces; FinTech experience is a plus
- Can multitask and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously with budgets ranging from $50k-$5mm
- Experienced with developing, improving, and working from a global perspective (Jane Street is growing and we need our systems to do the same)
- Exceptionally skilled with designing, deploying, and managing spaces in an enterprise environment, including but not limited to: control systems, DSPs, AVoIP, audio over IP, digital signage/IPTV, as well as Cisco VC solutions
- Able to present technical concepts to both engineers and business stakeholders, as well as leverage data and industry insights to help drive our strategy
- Have exceptionally high standards for system reliability and user experience
- Able to collaborate with architects for space design to ensure optimal performance for in-room, audio, and video
- Familiar with the stages of a GC-led build project, as well as a design build project; have successfully managed vendor relationships and held them accountable to performance standards on large-scale projects
- Experienced with the technical productions and the hands-on delivery of company events in a hybrid environment
- Experienced with providing user support for AV collaboration platforms such as Zoom, Webex, Teams, etc. (This includes troubleshooting existing spaces)
- Understand networking fundamentals, including VLANs, subnetting, basic routing, firewalls, and other network functions
- Willing and able to travel to other offices as needed
- Having AutoCAD/Revit or programming experience is a plus

What We Do
Jane Street works differently. As a liquidity provider and market maker, we trade on more than 200 trading venues across 45 countries and help form the backbone of global markets. Our approach is rooted in technology and rigorous quantitative analysis, but our success is driven by our people.
Our bright, beautiful offices in the heart of New York, London, Hong Kong, and Amsterdam are open and buzzing with conversation. We come from many backgrounds and encourage travel between offices to share perspectives. Some of our best ideas come from bumping into a visiting colleague at the office coffee bar.
Markets move fast. Staying competitive as we’ve grown has required constant invention—of new trading strategies, technology, and processes. We’ve found this is easier when you hire humble, kind people. They tend to help each other, and prioritize teamwork over titles.
We invest heavily in teaching and training. There’s a library and a classroom in every office, because deepening your understanding of something is considered real work. Guest lectures, classes, and conferences round out the intellectual exchanges that happen every day.
People grow into long careers at Jane Street because there are always new and interesting problems to solve, systems to build, and theories to test. More than twenty years after our founding, it still feels like we’re just getting started.
