The Automation Testing Manager is a leadership role for someone who thrives on innovation, continuous improvement, and modern quality engineering practices. This position leads a global team of automation and performance testing professionals while defining the strategy, tools, and processes that ensure reliable, secure, and high-performing solutions across the organization.

In this role, you will drive the evolution of testing from traditional quality assurance to a highly automated, intelligent, and data-driven quality engineering model. You will champion test automation, performance testing, DevOps integration, and AI-powered testing capabilities to improve software quality, accelerate delivery, and enhance customer experience.

Success in this position requires a strong blend of technical expertise, people leadership, strategic thinking, and a passion for adopting emerging technologies. You will work closely with business leaders, development teams, and IT partners to establish best practices, improve delivery efficiency, and ensure quality is built into every stage of the software lifecycle.

Location: Wrocław/Barcelona

Work Model: 4 days in the office (Monday-Thursday), remote Friday

Responsibilities

  • Lead a global team of automation and performance testing engineers to successfully deliver strategic business initiatives.

  • Define testing scope and quality objectives for software releases, covering both functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Establish and maintain a robust automation-first testing strategy.

  • Drive continuous improvement of test automation frameworks, processes, and methodologies.

  • Define and track key quality metrics, including automation coverage, test effectiveness, and testing efficiency.

  • Ensure test sufficiency, quality standards, and release readiness across all supported applications.

  • Develop and maintain testing strategies, plans, and quality roadmaps.

  • Identify, evaluate, and implement AI-enabled testing capabilities to improve productivity, coverage, defect detection, and test maintenance.

  • Partner with project managers, developers, business stakeholders, and IT teams to prioritize and resolve defects.

  • Provide clear and actionable testing and quality status reports to senior leadership.

  • Coordinate and oversee end-to-end performance testing activities.

  • Analyze performance trends and work with development teams to implement improvements.

  • Participate in recruitment, talent development, performance management, succession planning, and employee recognition programs.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, performance, and customer satisfaction.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, security policies, and SOX-related activities.

  • Manage team workload and resource allocation to ensure effective coverage and delivery.

  • Identify and implement industry-leading tools, technologies, and best practices.

  • Maintain confidentiality of company and customer information.

  • Support business and IT strategic objectives through effective quality engineering practices.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • Proven experience leading software testing, automation testing, or quality engineering teams.

  • Demonstrated success in designing, implementing, and scaling automated testing frameworks and quality engineering practices.

  • Strong experience with test automation tools, testing methodologies, and software quality best practices.

  • Experience with performance testing concepts, strategies, and tools.

  • Strong understanding of Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and modern software delivery practices.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing global or distributed teams.

  • Project management experience with the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and initiatives.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.

  • Experience leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technologies to enhance software testing and quality engineering, including intelligent test creation, self-healing automation, defect prediction, test optimization, and automated maintenance.

  • Hands-on experience using AI-powered development and testing tools such as Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, Tricentis Tosca AI, or similar platforms.

  • Proven ability to evaluate, adopt, and govern emerging AI technologies that improve testing efficiency, software quality, team productivity, and delivery speed.

  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working in Agile software development environments.

  • Experience in mature DevOps organizations with automated delivery pipelines.

  • Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter, Carrier IO, or similar platforms.

  • Software testing certifications such as ISTQB, Tricentis Tosca, or equivalent.

  • Experience facilitating technical roadmaps and strategic planning workshops.

  • Familiarity with enterprise software development toolchains.

  • Experience implementing AI-assisted quality engineering practices and integrating AI capabilities into the software development lifecycle.
