Automation & Process Control EngineerThis position is part of the Manufacturing Technology (MT) team supporting the Healthcare and Specialty Lubricants (HSL) businesses.The MT team is accountable for the process technology needed to support the end-to-end manufacture of products at the plant sites. The MT team works across functions (MT, integrated operations & quality, EH&S, R&D, TS&D, commercial, marketing, and supply chain) to deliver results on projects in alignment with the site and business needs.The MT role located at the Hemlock HIMS site has primary responsibilities supporting and improving existing HSL manufacturing operations as well as playing a key role in bringing changes and new products to the site.Responsibilities:
- Serve as owner of process control system infrastructure, programming, cybersecurity, and related management of change activity.
- Lead production process automation control upgrade and modification for product/process improvement, and provide startup coverage to help troubleshoot any application issues.
- Responds to day-to day operational impacts relative to A&PC.
- Own and maintain long-term control systems vision and related system integration plans, and ensure capital plans properly reflect these plans.
- Lead capital project activity, including adherence to schedule and associated validations.
- Engage in site PSM activities to ensure compliance with corporate standards and regulatory requirements. Participate in applicable PHAs.
- Serve as or work closely with site safety interlock guardian to ensure all Safety Instrumented System requirements are met.
- Partner with Manufacturing Technology (MT) to develop and implement projects from the Operations Business Technology Implementation Plan (BTIP) that deliver positive year-over-year ROC (return on capital) and non-capital continuous improvement while meeting the plant level EH&S improvement goals.
- Ensure Business Technology Implementation Plan (BTIP) projects are fully implemented and validate the performance delivers or exceeds the expected results.
- Support the facility root cause failure analysis process by serving as a team member or facilitator for incidents related to A&PC.
- Lead and support plant continuous improvement activities aligned to the BTIP and support the capital plan for the facility. This includes leading continuous improvement activities for the facility and serving in specific project management & execution roles for smaller projects.
- Participate in the site alarm management program.
- Solves technical or operational problems (with or without vague/unstructured aspects); takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
- Expected to serve in the plant on-call rotation.
- This position reports to the HSL Manufacturing Technology Manager and receives local oversight, training, and guidance from HIMS Site Leadership.
- Limited travel (<10%) is expected depending on project responsibilities (travel to other DuPont sites or external parties such as suppliers, manufacturers, training)
Qualifications:
- MS or BS in EE, ChemE or Automation Control background.
- 1-3 years of experience in designing and engineering production process automation control.
- Knowledge of process control requirements, system architecture design, configuration, integration, and implementation of process control strategies using PLC-based control systems and HMI programming and DCS systems.
- Experience in specifying, installing, maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting instruments and analyzers.
- Familiarity with Rockwell PLCs and Siemens PCS 7 DCS systems, GE Proficy iFIX
- Strong communication and leadership skills for project management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Prior experience with coding, database management, Six Sigma methodology, and Process Safety Management will be considered a plus.

- Experience with SIS, computer system networks
