Responsibilities & QualificationsNovelis Bay Minette is seeking an Automation Engineer Intern to support automation, controls, and digital manufacturing initiatives at our Bay Minette, Alabama facility. This internship provides hands-on experience with industrial automation systems, process improvement projects, and data-driven manufacturing solutions in an advanced aluminum manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Support automation, controls, and process improvement projects across the Bay Minette facility.
- Assist with troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation, control systems, and related manufacturing technologies.
- Analyze production and process data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, and Engineering teams to support project execution.
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.
- Document project work and present findings or recommendations to the team.
- Promote a strong safety culture and comply with site safety and environmental standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Junior, Senior, or recent graduate standing.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to PLCs, HMIs, robotics, controls, instrumentation, or data analytics.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data analysis tools.
