About the job
As an Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in linking our production, equipment, technicians, QA and IT departments. You will be part of our cross-site automation support team, with an initial focus on building and maintaining a strong foundation for our compliance level and IT/OT strategy.
Automation and control systems are central to our equipment and processes. To help the organization reach its ambitious goals, we are looking for a profile who - working closely with production, equipment engineers, technicians, QA and IT - acts as the site subject matter expert for automation compliance and IT/OT governance, ensuring alignment with corporate standards and regulatory requirements.
The role balances day-to-day operational support with participation in a wide range of projects to continuously drive the automation area towards excellence.
Primary responsibilities
Maintain and continuously improve the compliance level of site automation systems through strong GMP practices, validation activities, and lifecycle management.
Own and drive local implementation of the Bavarian Nordic IT/OT strategy in collaboration with Site Engineering, Quality, and Corporate IT.
Act as subject matter expert for automation compliance, computerized systems, and OT infrastructure.
Independently drive troubleshooting, improvements, and optimization of automation and control systems.
Lead or contribute to deviations, investigations, change controls, CAPAs, and root cause analyses.
Ensure automation systems remain compliant, secure, available, and aligned with business and regulatory requirements.
About our team
You will be part of the Automation team within Site Engineering - five teams in total with more than 45 skilled colleagues across Utilities, Automation, Calibration & Maintenance, CAPEX Projects, and Facility.
Site Engineering supports the entire Kvistgaard site and increasingly collaborates with our global locations. You will join a team of nine Automation Engineers responsible for our FMS and BMS systems while supporting all production areas on site. Together with our IT organization, we ensure that our internal customers – production - operate smoothly and continue to develop.

We are looking for someone who:
Holds a degree as an automation engineer, electrical engineer, automation technician, or similar
Has 5+ years of experience with operating automation-heavy production equipment - preferably from GMP or another regulated industry
Understands and embraces GMP requirements and documentation practices
Is ready to take responsibility for the compliance level and strategy for the area
Works collaboratively, seeks solutions, and communicates clearly
Speaks and writes Danish fluently and has good English skills
Knowledge of the following is an advantage:
PLC/HMI programming and troubleshooting (Siemens S7-300/1500 and HMI)
iFix SCADA
Process control and batch systems (ISA-88/S88, ISA-95)
Data integration technologies (OPC UA, SQL, MES, Historian)
Virtual environments (VMware)
IT infrastructure (Active Directory, network, storage)
Computerized System Validation (GAMP5)
cLEAN tools
