We are seeking an experienced DeltaV Automation Engineer to join the Automation & Process Control team at MSD Ballydine. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing Emerson DeltaV Distributed Control Systems (DCS) used within a highly regulated GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. The role will involve working across manufacturing operations, capital projects, new product introductions (NPI), process improvements, and lifecycle management of automation systems while ensuring compliance with GMP, safety, and quality standards.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on one of Ireland's largest pharmaceutical manufacturing sites, supporting state-of-the-art manufacturing processes and contributing to operational excellence.
The successful candidate will:
- Provide day-to-day engineering support for Emerson DeltaV process control systems across manufacturing operations.
- Design, configure, develop, test, and implement DeltaV control strategies, control modules, equipment modules, phases, and batch logic.
- Develop and modify DeltaV graphics, alarms, historian configuration, trends, and operator interfaces.
- Support manufacturing during engineering runs, PPQ batches, validation activities, and commercial production.
- Troubleshoot automation issues, investigate system failures, identify causes, and implement robust corrective actions.
- Support process optimisation initiatives to improve plant reliability, efficiency, and manufacturing performance.
- Participate in capital projects, equipment upgrades, technology transfers, and new product introductions.
- Prepare and review Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Design Specifications (DS), Software Design Specifications (SDS), test documentation, and commissioning protocols.
- Execute software testing including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, and qualification activities.
- Support Change Control implementation in accordance with site procedures and GMP requirements.
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Operations, Process Engineering, CQV, Validation, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and external vendors.
- Participate in investigations, deviations, CAPAs, and audit support activities.
- Maintain automation documentation in accordance with regulatory and company standards.
- Support lifecycle management of DeltaV hardware and software.
- Participate in an on-call support rota where required.
