Are you an experienced automation professional with a passion for optimizing operations? In this key technical role, you will drive improvements in automation to safety, reliability, and environmental compliance for our Burrard Terminal assets.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Seven years of industrial automation work experience as an engineer, technologist, or technician
  • Been registered, or are eligible to register, as a Professional Engineer with the Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC)
  • Experience in both Windows and Unix/Linux operating environments
  • A strong background of LAN and WAN technologies, protocols and configuration
  • Understanding of cybersecurity considerations in process control systems and protocols (Modbus, OPC-DA, OPC-UA, MQTT)
  • Familiarity with several programming languages
  • Involvement with server virtualization
  • Experience supporting Honeywell DCS

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support all components pertaining to Distributed Control System (DCS) including communications, networking, cyber-security. PHD-Historian, Pi Historian, and LIMS.
  • Initiate and conduct complex assignments requiring modification of established guidelines and procedures
  • Manage day-to-day as well as long term reliability of the DCS system to ensure high data integrity and uptime
  • Verify and correct DCS configuration on all new and modified installations during our project commissioning phase
  • Provide recommendations and budgetary numbers for required DCS system upgrades and expansions
  • Lead incident investigations related DCS/Network failures
  • Lead or work collaboratively in teams to develop plans to achieve long term objectives or implement corporate strategies
  • Guide and mentor junior technical team members on SCADA processes and tools

Location & other key details:

  • You will work out of our office in Burrard Terminal (greater Vancouver)
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours and occasional travel based on business needs
  • Provide on-call support during off hours
  • This position is safety sensitive
  • Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
