Are you an experienced automation professional with a passion for optimizing operations? In this key technical role, you will drive improvements in automation to safety, reliability, and environmental compliance for our Burrard Terminal assets.
Minimum Requirements:
- Seven years of industrial automation work experience as an engineer, technologist, or technician
- Been registered, or are eligible to register, as a Professional Engineer with the Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC)
- Experience in both Windows and Unix/Linux operating environments
- A strong background of LAN and WAN technologies, protocols and configuration
- Understanding of cybersecurity considerations in process control systems and protocols (Modbus, OPC-DA, OPC-UA, MQTT)
- Familiarity with several programming languages
- Involvement with server virtualization
- Experience supporting Honeywell DCS
Key Accountabilities:
- Support all components pertaining to Distributed Control System (DCS) including communications, networking, cyber-security. PHD-Historian, Pi Historian, and LIMS.
- Initiate and conduct complex assignments requiring modification of established guidelines and procedures
- Manage day-to-day as well as long term reliability of the DCS system to ensure high data integrity and uptime
- Verify and correct DCS configuration on all new and modified installations during our project commissioning phase
- Provide recommendations and budgetary numbers for required DCS system upgrades and expansions
- Lead incident investigations related DCS/Network failures
- Lead or work collaboratively in teams to develop plans to achieve long term objectives or implement corporate strategies
- Guide and mentor junior technical team members on SCADA processes and tools
Location & other key details:
- You will work out of our office in Burrard Terminal (greater Vancouver)
- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours and occasional travel based on business needs
- Provide on-call support during off hours
- This position is safety sensitive
- Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
