Boeing is seeking an Automated Nondestructive Inspection Engineer (Mid-Level or Senior) to join our team in Wichita, Kansas. In this role, you will join a team of multi-disciplined engineers and technical professionals responsible for ensuring the successful design, development, manufacture, and services support of Non-Destructive Automated Ultrasonic Scanning Systems (AUSS) products for worldwide internal and external aerospace programs. The team collaborates with multiple functions, suppliers, Boeing sites, and external customers to provide world class solutions for Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) systems.
Automated inspection of composites and metallics is a critical technological need that supports both production and maintenance of aircraft for Boeing and our industry partners. This position offers an opportunity to join a high visibility team of exceptional engineers and technicians as it expands to meet growing industry demand.
This position will report to the Manager of Automated Ultrasonic Scanning Systems (AUSS) in Boeing Global Services Off Platform Support Equipment.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Mid-Level or Senior Automated Nondestructive Inspection Engineer.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Utilize specialized experience with Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) automation to guide product vision to meet current and future inspection needs
  • Contribute to business development opportunities by presenting capabilities and bespoke NDI solutions to potential customers, including automation machines and tooling
  • Manage the AUSS statement of work throughout the lifecycle, from proposal to delivery
  • Manage customer deliverables by defining plans for risk mitigation, issues, opportunities, and monitoring baseline plans to assess project performance, productivity, and lessons learned
  • Support research and development technology investments and utilize NDI knowledge to provide technical direction and guidance regarding approved processes, plans, tools, technology, and skills
  • Maintains a strong network of contacts with Boeing business units, customers, suppliers, and competitors to keep the team connected to the pulse of the NDI industry
  • Travels to customer sites across US and international to support system-level integration, commissioning, debugging, and sustainment activities
  • Provides customer site calibration and verification support for NDI equipment and data-acquisition systems, ensuring measurement traceability, compliance with applicable standards, and readiness for lab and production system deployment
  • Troubleshoots complex electrical-mechanical systems in multi-disciplinary integration environments
  • Solicits and refines process improvements to improve product quality and efficiency
  • Effectively communicates complex technical issues to product team, leadership, and customers
  • Utilizes strong business acumen to represent Boeing and its products to customers
  • Performs efficiently in a fast-paced, challenging, and diverse work environment

Hybrid
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the Wichita, Kansas site. This is at the hiring team's discretion and could potentially change in the future. On-site work will be at a minimum of 1 day a week (or as needed by customers).
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 5+ years' experience with system integration, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for 20% of the time

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Active Security Clearance
  • 9+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a design environment with mechanical or electrical components and/or assemblies
  • Experience tracking cost, schedule and/or technical performance
  • Experience with industry Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) or Non-destructive Test (NDT) technologies, tools, process, and trends
  • Experience working with automated NDI tools
  • Experience working with ultrasonic and eddy current inspection techniques
  • Experience performing system-level integration, testing, commissioning, or troubleshooting of automated equipment or data acquisition systems in lab or factory environments
  • Experience in industrial automation, robotics, or manufacturing systems
  • Experience in factory or field support equipment
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Siemens NX, NX Teamcenter, CATIA, SolidWorks

Summary pay range Mid-Level (Level 3): $96,050 - $129,950
Summary pay range Senior (Level 4): $118,150 - $159,850
