Our corporate offices are in Dublin, CA, and we offer a hybrid work environment with some days at the corporate office and some days working from home. We are also open to remote candidates who can travel to the office periodically for in-person meetings.

As SavvyMoney continues to grow and scale, we are seeking an Attorney, Fintech Compliance & Data Privacy. Reporting to the CLO, you will lead data privacy, AI governance, and regulatory compliance initiatives while partnering closely with business, product, engineering, and executive leadership.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of law firm and/or in-house experience, exceptional legal judgment, and the ability to translate evolving privacy and AI regulations into practical business solutions.

Essential Functions -

  • Lead the organization's privacy, data protection, and AI compliance initiatives.

  • Advise business and product teams on the legal implications of AI-enabled products and services.

  • Develop and maintain internal privacy and AI governance policies, procedures, and compliance playbooks.

  • Draft and update terms of services and privacy policies

  • Review, draft, and negotiate commercial and vendor agreements with a focus on privacy, security, and data protection provisions.

  • Provide legal guidance on consumer privacy laws and industry-specific regulatory requirements.

  • Assess data collection, consent, retention, and usage practices across products and platforms.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks related to emerging technologies.

  • Coordinate with outside counsel on complex legal matters while serving as the primary internal privacy resource.

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting privacy, AI, and consumer protection laws.

  • Partner with information technology team on data security matters and initiatives

  • Support broader commercial and operational legal matters as needed.

Qualifications and Experience -

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active U.S. bar admission.

  • Approximately 8+ years of legal experience, with a strong preference for candidates who have law firm experience and exposure to in-house legal environments.

  • Significant experience advising on privacy, data protection, technology transactions, or commercial contracting.

  • Strong working knowledge of privacy and consumer protection regulations, including:

  • GLBA

  • FCRA

  • CCPA and other U.S. state privacy laws

  • TCPA

  • DPPA

  • COPPA (or similar online privacy regulations)

  • Experience advising on AI governance, machine learning, automated decision-making, or emerging technology compliance.

  • Demonstrated experience negotiating complex vendor, SaaS, and technology agreements.

  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts to cross-functional business teams.

  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience supporting product development, engineering, or technology organizations is highly preferred.

Preferred Experience -

  • Familiarity with Truth in Lending Act (TILA / Regulation Z): and Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA / Regulation B) and other regulations applicable to credit transactions by financial institutions

  • Combination of private practice and in-house legal experience.

  • Technology, SaaS, FinTech, financial services, or other highly regulated industry experience.

  • Experience developing practical compliance frameworks rather than providing only legal analysis.

  • Ability to balance legal risk with business objectives in a fast-paced environment.

Base Salary

The annual base salary for this position is between $200,000.00 and $225,000.00 based upon experience and location.
