We are looking for a 1-3 PQE Associate (E&W scale) to join our Asia TMT/IP team, based in Hong Kong. We are looking for someone with full fluency in Mandarin (written and spoken), and Cantonese language skills would be an added advantage.
Our Asia TMT/IP practice supports clients across a range of sectors on technology, data, and IP issues. The practice provides a range of products, including: (i) technology, data and IP-driven transactions and other M&A transaction support (e.g., technology, data and IP due diligence, transitional service agreements and licensing arrangements, data sharing and analytics, technology procurement and build, outsourcing, service arrangements); (ii) advisory (e.g., data privacy, cybersecurity, tech regulatory, IP commercialisation and protection strategy); and (iii) digital infrastructure transactions (e.g. data centres, telco towers, fiber and satellites).
The Asia TMT/IP practice is a regional practice and works with the firm’s network and clients across the Asia and Middle East regions. The practice has team members physically based in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore and Dubai.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial documentation, demonstrate familiarity with market standards.
- Provide clear and commercial legal advice to clients.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, including supporting senior stakeholders in client development initiatives and identifying opportunities to expand existing mandates.
- Collaborate effectively at all levels, including proactively managing expectations and workflows with senior stakeholders, while also supervising, mentoring and providing guidance to junior team members and trainees.
- To succeed in this Associate (TMT/IP) role, you should be able to contribute to knowhow, communicate effectively when under pressure and be a proactive team player.
Key Requirements:
- Excellent academic credentials.
- You will be 1 to 3 years PQE (E&W scale).Common law qualification preferred, Hong Kong Qualification is desirable
- Prior transactional and commercial contracts experience is a must.
- General IP and TMT experience desirable.
- Strong legal foundation and be a self-starter with a creative and entrepreneurial mindset and a desire to build a team around him or her.
- Strong networking and organisational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willingness to work regionally, and comfortable working with colleagues and clients across different time zones, demonstrating flexibility and cultural awareness.
- Full fluency in Mandarin (written and spoken) is essential, and Cantonese language skills would be an added advantage.
