Associate Software Engineer_Developer Tooling & Ecosystem

As an Associate Software Engineer on the Developer Tooling & Ecosystem team, you will design, integrate, and operate the systems that power Priceline’s development lifecycle. This is a hybrid role that blends the following:

  • Platform engineering

  • Systems integration

  • Tooling governance

  • Automation / Workflows

  • Vendor collaboration

  • Developer experience strategy

You will work across engineering, security, finance, and product teams to ensure our toolchain is optimized, integrated, and delivering measurable impact. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy thinking holistically about ecosystems, not just writing feature code.

Why this job’s a big deal:

The Developer Tooling & Ecosystem team owns the strategy, governance, integration, and optimization of Priceline’s engineering tool chain.

We treat developer productivity as a measurable business capability. Our mission is to ensure that every tool used across the engineering lifecycle—from IDEs to CI/CD, feature flags to content systems, GenAI to performance tooling—is

  • Secure

  • Integrated

  • Cost-efficient

  • Scalable

  • High-impact

This team owns and operates the ecosystem that powers engineering velocity, quality, and experimentation. Our portfolio spans the platforms, services, and processes that enable teams to build, test, release, and iterate effectively, including (but not limited to):

  • Engineering tooling strategy, evaluation, and lifecycle management

  • Source control, code quality, and continuous integration practices

  • Containerization and local development environments

  • AI-assisted development and emerging productivity technologies

  • Feature management, experimentation, and release enablement

  • Performance monitoring and developer feedback loops

  • Content and localization enablement for product delivery

  • Workflow automation and cross-system integrations

  • Reporting, insights, and data-driven optimization of the development lifecycle

We are accountable not only for reliability and seamless integration but also for adoption, measurable impact, cost efficiency, and long-term platform strategy.

In this role, you will get to:

Developer Tooling Ownership

  • Own and operate enterprise engineering tools across the SDLC

  • Manage lifecycle of tools: evaluation, onboarding, integration, optimization, and sunset

  • Partner with vendors to influence roadmap, resolve escalations, and optimize contracts

  • Ensure security, compliance, and access governance standards are met

Systems Integration & Automation

  • Design and maintain integrations between core systems (CI/CD, SonarQube, LaunchDarkly, Contentful, Smartling, Luciq, etc.)

  • Build automation that reduces manual workflows across engineering

  • Standardize identity, provisioning, and permissions across tools

  • Improve cross-platform interoperability and data flow

GenAI & Intelligent Tooling

  • Evaluate and integrate GenAI platforms (Cursor, ChatGPT Enterprise, agent-based editors)

  • Define guardrails and governance for AI-assisted development

  • Measure productivity impact of AI tooling adoption

  • Build internal extensions or automation layers on top of AI platforms

CI/CD & Code Quality Ecosystem

  • Maintain integrations with SonarQube, Mergify, Docker Desktop, and related tooling

  • Define organization-wide standards for code quality, PR automation, and merge governance

  • Improve developer feedback loops through intelligent automation

Performance & Reliability Tooling

  • Own performance monitoring tool integrations

  • Standardize reporting frameworks for performance and release quality

  • Ensure observability and telemetry across engineering systems

Reporting, ROI & DevEx Measurement

  • Establish reporting frameworks to measure:

    • Tool adoption

    • Usage efficiency

    • Cost vs. value

    • Developer productivity signals

  • Drive DevEx360 metrics and insights

  • Present ROI and optimization opportunities to engineering leadership

Onboarding & Enablement

  • Design and maintain onboarding programs for new engineers

  • Standardize development environment setup (IDEs, Docker, access provisioning)

  • Create golden-path documentation and self-service tooling

  • Improve time-to-first-PR metrics.

Who you are:

  • 2+ years of engineering experience Java/Python

  • Experience working with CI/CD, code quality tools, or developer platforms

  • Strong systems integration mindset

  • Experience building internal tools or automation workflows

  • Understanding of identity, access management, and enterprise tool governance

  • Strong cross-functional communication skills

  • You think in ecosystems—not isolated tools.

  • Illustrated history of living the values necessary to Priceline: customer, innovation, team, accountability, and trust.

  • The Right Results, the Right Way is not just a motto at Priceline; it’s a way of life. Unquestionable integrity and ethics are essential.
