Role Overview:

We are seeking an Associate Software Engineer to join the engineering team supporting growing demands in the development of autonomous, self-propelled rail vehicles. This role is pivotal in advancing our software capabilities through the design and development of innovative self-propelled capabilities in areas such as embedded software, user experience/user interface software, back-end software, computer vision/artificial intelligence software, and control systems software.


Schedule:

This is a full time, in-office position, based in St. Louis, MO


Position Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and translate requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs, and interface specifications.
  • Test and validate to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.
  • Solve problems concerning and provide other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
  • Research technological advancements for potential application to company business needs.
  • Collaborate with embedded software, systems, and other engineering teams to define interface specifications and ensure seamless system integration.

  • Work within dynamic teams on diverse projects, typically ranging from small (1-2) to medium (3-10) members. 
  • Foster excellent interpersonal and communication skills to thrive in a collaborative environment. 
  • Adapt to evolving project objectives and requirements, as the work often involves a research nature and prioritized capability enhancements.
  • Engage in occasional domestic travel to support integration, demonstrations, and customer interactions

    About You: 


    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (open to December 2025 graduates).
    • 0-2 years of experience developing software applications, including relevant internship or university research experience.
    • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, C#, or an object oriented language.
    • Experience with the software development life-cycle, including debugging and testing.
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. CPT/OPT is supported.
    • Fluent in both written and verbal English.

    Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

    • Experience developing applications for industrial controls, human-machine interfaces (HMI), embedded systems, or computer vision.
    • Experience with communication protocols or APIs for interfacing with external systems.
    • Experience working with software version control tools such as git.
    • Experience in directly applicable industry or projects, such as Rail, Electric Vehicles, or Unmanned Systems.
    • Demonstrated experience working on project teams and collaborating with other engineering disciplines.


    Typical Education and Experience:

    Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 0-2 years' related work (internship/cooperative work), or university research project experience.
