Overview of Opportunity
Two Six Technologies is seeking an Associate Research Director to research and develop high-assurance software and hardware systems using advanced formal analysis technologies. We are seeking candidates with an interest in research as well as a commitment to developing solutions for the real world. Ideal candidates will be passionate about using concepts from pure mathematics in an industry setting.
Responsibilities:
- Identify potential trustworthy AI strategies for the team to bid on and perform on.
- Participate in writing and winning proposals in a broad range of AI applications, including AI safety complementary to the team’s.
- Manage and lead researchers and engineers through the delivery and execution of AI/ML Programs.
- Work well independently in a small team and fast-paced environment.
- Collaborate with partners and customers to understand, tailor, and deliver solutions that meet their requirements.
- Stay current with AI/ML research and technologies and assess their potential application within government projects.
- Gather and translate user requirements into rigorous and workable automated solutions.
What you will need (basic qualifications)
- Minimum 7 years of experience writing and winning research proposals in AI for DARPA / IARPA / DoD / DTRA or similar government agencies. OR
- Hold existing relationships with key private-sector and Government personnel to drive interest and opportunities (non-research oriented) in Trustworthy AI resulting in contract pursuit and wins.
- Project management experience for medium to large government contracts
- Experience working with both researchers and practitioners in the the AI / ML field
- Experience in some aspects of trusted AI. E.g. privacy, explainability, bias, user trust etc.
Nice to haves (preferred):
Ability to read academic papers
Past technical performance experience in AI/ ML / Data Science.
Ability to review R, Python, or SQL code.
Security Clearance:
Active US Security clearance of Top Secret level.

The projected salary range listed for this position is annualized. This is a general guideline and not a guarantee of salary. Salary is one component of our total compensation package and the specific salary offered is determined by various factors, including, but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, geographic location, as well as contract specific affordability and organizational requirements.
Salary Range
$151,400—$306,800 USD
