Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Systems Specialist to join our KC-46 Quality team in Everette, WA or Tukwila, WA.
This position will play a mission-critical role ensuring the safety, reliability, and global readiness of the Air Force's next-generation refueling tanker. Bring your engineering rigor and systems thinking to a high-visibility defense program where your hands-on technical expertise and cross-functional leadership will directly impact aircrew safety, fleet performance, and on-time delivery. Lead quality innovation-driving root-cause fixes, supplier excellence, drawing reviews, APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), process surveillances, and MECR (Manufacturing Engineering Change Request) approvals-to implement world-class quality systems and continuous improvement across the KC-46 lifecycle. Position Responsibilities:
  • Assists in review of proposals, contracts, regulatory, program and customer requirements to prepare quality assurance plans and tests for hardware and software products, processes and services
  • Maintains Quality directives, policies, processes, procedures and metrics to assure program, contract, customer, regulatory requirements, international standards and working agreements are deployed using established procedures
  • Collects and verifies data to support the identification of root cause routine problems
  • Provides ideas and concepts for corrective action development
  • Supports quality source selection and process reviews of suppliers' ability to meet program quality requirements
  • Assists with hardware, software and system level audits to determine compliance with quality management system standards, configuration assurance, related business, regulatory and customer requirements
  • Documents audit results in standard formats
  • Compiles data and provides recommendations for material review disposition
  • Works under general supervision

A typical work day will have a variety subjects but not limited to:
  • Work on a dynamic team supporting KC46 Quality
  • Participate reviews of the designs, prototypes, and other requirements work products to ensure they fulfill the requirements.
  • Perform project tasks that meet identified requirements by application of, or in accordance with, accepted project management standards in the industry (e.g., PMI, Project Management Body of Knowledge [PMBOK], ANSI, and ISO standards)

Skills needed for success in this role:
  • Ability to analyze processes, systems and data to identify function requirements for application or system design
  • Skill at defining and prioritizing critical requirements
  • Ability to bridge business goals, user needs and feasibility when designing future system solutions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and navigate complex decision making
  • Ability to lead from within a team
  • Develops Quality criteria to support supplier selection activities. Leads various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • More than 1 year experience analyzing processes, applications, systems and data to identify functional requirements for application or system design
  • Knowledge in technical content management discipline and/or process

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Project management experience and credentials desired
  • Experience in changing process writings desired
  • Factory experience preferred (Manufacturing or Quality)
  • Experience working with AS9100 and/or similar QMS standard

Travel:
Position may require travel up to 10% of the time.

Summary pay range:
$83,300 - $112,700
