Associate- Quality Software Engineer

Join our Kuala Lumpur team as a QA Engineer working on digital projects for clients across different industries. You'll test modern web platforms and APIs, learning how to ensure quality across content management systems, user interfaces, and integrations. This is a great opportunity to develop your testing skills working with technologies like Strapi,, Sanity, Contentful, GraphQL, Next.js, and React.

You'll work across the team with developers, designers, and other QA engineers to understand requirements and validate that features work as expected. Your day-to-day will include executing test cases, reporting bugs, performing API testing, and starting to build test automation. You'll collaborate across different projects and get exposure to various client challenges and technical approaches.

This role is perfect for someone looking to grow their testing expertise working on diverse client projects. You'll get hands-on experience with modern testing tools, build test automation frameworks, and develop strong quality practices across different types of digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute manual test cases for web applications and APIs based on requirements and user stories
• Test REST and GraphQL APIs using tools like Postman, validating responses and data accuracy
• Perform functional testing across different browsers (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox) to identify compatibility issues
• Report bugs clearly with steps to reproduce, screenshots, and relevant details to help developers fix issues quickly
• Test multilingual content to ensure proper display of English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese text
• Start building test automation scripts using Playwright or Cypress under guidance from senior engineers
• Validate user interfaces for responsiveness across desktop, tablet, and mobile screen sizes
• Perform basic accessibility testing using browser tools and automated scanners like axe
• Test content management workflows in systems like Strapi, Sanity or Contentful
• Participate in daily standups and provide testing status updates to the team
• Review and provide feedback on requirements and user stories from a testing perspective
• Maintain test documentation including test cases and test results

Must-Have:

• 2-3 years of QA or software testing experience, preferably testing web applications in manual & automation.
• Understanding of software testing fundamentals including test case design, bug reporting, and test execution.
• Experience with Automation testing frameworks like Selenium,Cypress, Playwright.
• Experience with API testing using tools like Postman or similar REST clients
• Good understanding of web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and how web applications work
• Cross-browser testing experience and ability to identify browser-specific issues
• Strong attention to detail with ability to identify edge cases and potential issues
• Good communication skills for reporting bugs, asking questions, and collaborating with developers
• Willingness to learn test automation and new testing tools
• Ability to work independently while knowing when to ask for help

Nice-to-Have:

• Some exposure to test automation frameworks like Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium
• Basic SQL knowledge for querying databases to validate data
• Experience testing GraphQL APIs in addition to REST APIs.
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools like Jenkins.
• Experience testing content management systems or similar platforms.
• Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and how to test for themKnowledge of testing multilingual applications or internationalization concepts.
• Experience with bug tracking tools like JiraBasic understanding of version control systems like Git
