About the role
Avalere Health is seeking an Associate Principal-level candidate to join our Market Access practice. The team focuses on a wide range of areas, such as coverage, coding, and payment across commercial and public payers; pricing and contracting; distributors and specialty pharmacies; and much more. We assess how our clients’ products fit within the dynamic coverage, pricing, and reimbursement landscape and help our clients optimize market access for their products though deep subject matter expertise and understanding of their business issues.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and secure business within the life science space with a focus on strategic pricing and contracting, government pricing, government reporting with deep expertise and understanding of CMS, Medicare, and Medicaid pricing and policy and have the ability to quantitatively forecast for commercial buying centers
Manage a portfolio of clients to ensure that all Avalere’s knowledge and expertise are available to meet client needs with a $500K annual sales target;
Conceptualize the scope of projects for clients, assemble a cross-functional team, and oversee the team from project initiation through to client delivery;
Serve as a subject matter expert on government pricing and government reporting including all aspects of ASP (Average Sales Price), AMP (Average Manufacturer Price) and Best Price calculations
Serve as subject matter expert on 340B and related programs (Prime Vendor Program), and other government pricing programs including pricing benchmarks such as WAC, ceiling price, Unit Rebate Amount (URA), etc.
Create both strategic and tactical recommendations to ensure optimal market access for client products through guiding and assessing strategies for product launch price, value-based pricing and modeling GTN (Gross to Net) forecasting;
Solve complex client issues in a timely and appropriate manner with minimal management oversight and attention to resources;
Generate public recognition for Avalere’s pricing capabilities and result in new business and revenue generation through publication of thought leadership and/or public speaking engagements; and
Mentor, supervise, and train staff members within the Market Access practice and across the firm.

Experience Requirements
Minimal Experience
5+ years of relevant work experience
Examples of relevant work experience include consulting firms, payers/PBMs, diagnostics and/or pharmaceutical manufacturers, HHS, CMS, 340B providers, and the healthcare industry at large
3+ years in access, formulary, and coverage strategy;
3+ years in reimbursement-specific policy;
2 years of project team leadership experience; 5 years of management/supervisory experience;
Preferred Experience
8+ years of relevant work experience; Consulting experience;
Market access strategy and strategic pricing experience;
Significant and sustained project management experience that includes interacting with and presenting to senior-level executives and/or health policy leaders;
Experience analyzing policy proposals, legislation, and/or federal regulation and conveying findings to clients and the public.
