Job Purpose:
Cerberus Capital Management is seeking an Associate or Sr. Associate to join our tax compliance team. We would like to discuss our role with any current Senior or Managers in public accounting, or someone with in-house tax compliance experience for an alternatives firm. We are targeting 3-6 years of hedge fund and/or private equity fund tax compliance experience. Experience with tax technology and automation projects are a major plus.
Responsibilities & Deliverables:
- Preparing tax allocations for hedge funds and private equity funds
- Performing taxable income analysis, including sec.988, swap income/expense, sec.1256, etc.
- Review of federal, state, and local tax returns for partnerships, corporations and S corps
- Responding to notices received from tax authorities
- Preparation of quarterly estimated tax payments for corporations and quarterly NYC UBT payments for Partnerships
- Preparation of PFIC statements
- Implementation of tax technology, including Alteryx, to drive process improvement
Key Requirements:
- 3-6 years of tax compliance experience with hedge funds and private equity
- Public accounting and in-house tax experience with an alternative investments firm a plus
- Also open to individuals at the Sr. Associate or Manager level in public accounting
- Big 4 experience is a plus
- Strong tax technical skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team
- Strong Excel/ tax technology skills. Knowledge of Alteryx is a plus.
- Cerberus maintains a centralized data system; an ability to interface with the system and the data team, and ability to write reports will stand out
The base salary for this position is expected to be between $120,000.00 and $160,000.00. The base salary offered to the chosen candidate will be commensurate with a candidate’s relevant experience and other qualifications for the position, as determined by the Company in its sole discretion. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, which is often a meaningful portion of the compensation package, and a robust benefits package.
