Job Summary:

The Associate Learning Designer plays a key role in supporting the development of engaging and accessible digital learning experiences. Working alongside Learning Designers and Senior Learning Designers, this role contributes to the production of high-quality course resources that are accurate, consistent, and aligned with best practice and institutional standards. The role also contributes to the innovation in learning design, including the safe and effective use of AI tools for course production, and builds awareness of how AI is shaping learning and assessment practices.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career in learning design who wants practical, hands-on experience in building engaging online courses. You will collaborate with universities and experts on projects that directly improve student learning and contribute to the advancement of education.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

By collaborating with Learning Designers and Senior Learning Designers this role will:

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of course materials within Learning Management Systems (LMS), applying sound learning design pedagogy and using relevant templates and guidelines.

  • Support the application of instructional design principles in the creation of course content.

  • Format, proofread, and quality-check resources to ensure accuracy and accessibility.

  • Support the integration of and development of multimedia and interactive elements (e.g., H5P, videos, graphics) using relevant templates and guidelines. Contribute to innovative approaches in course development, including trialing new technologies and AI-assisted tools.

  • Develop an understanding of how AI impacts teaching, learning, and assessment, and apply this knowledge to support best practice.

  • Contribute to process documentation and version control for course development projects.

  • Escalate issues as needed, seeking guidance from senior colleagues.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and team learning activities.

Job Qualifications: 

  • Experience

    • A minimum of 1–2 years of work experience in learning design, or 3-5 years of experience in related fields such as teaching or education support.

    • Experience with LMS platforms and/or eLearning authoring tools preferred; ability to set up, edit, and maintain course content.

    • Exposure to multimedia, digital education tools and emerging technologies (including AI applications in learning design) advantageous.

    • Foundational knowledge of learning theories and learning design principles.

  • Education

    • Completion of a bachelor’s degree is required.

    • Degrees in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field are preferred.

  • Location Requirements

    • Minimal travel; occasional interstate travel may be required.

    • Must reside in Australia
