Job Description
 

The Associate Director – US Commercial IT Account Management Capability Lead sits within the global Gilead IT organization with the primary responsibility of supporting Gilead US Commercial team as a key member of the global US Commercial Field Enablement IT team. The US Commercial IT Account Management Capability Lead acts as a techno-functional lead and works on HCP/HCO account management capability. This role reports to the US Commercial IT Field Enablement lead.

 

This Associate Director will support and liaise with a broad business team including Gilead Commercial Operations, Medical Affairs and Business Conduct. The role will also engage across IT teams who manage/support systems within the Capability ecosystem, i.e., integration touchpoints with tools such as Master Data Management platform and Commercial Analytics Hub as well as the broader IT team that enable the overall working experience for the business teams we support. The role will infuse forward looking, creative and innovative solutions, as a techno-functional partner to the business. It is expected that the person in this role brings ideas to the table, rather than just react to them. In addition, this role will be involved in understanding and staying up to date on vendor product roadmaps for relevant applications.

 

You will play a significant role in implementing and enabling the Next Gen CRM for Gilead, including building a solution with the appropriate HCP / HCO data that users can trust. This role would play a key role in ensuring accurate and predictable HCP alignments and targeting, HCP-HCO and HCO-HCO affiliations, consent and privacy management, roster and territory management, among others.

 

This role will act as a liaison between DevOps teams and business teams and responsibilities would include functional & technical assessments, introduction of new capabilities on existing pre-dominantly SaaS Based solutions (e.g. Veeva Align), business enhancements grouped into sustainment releases, oversee development of Custom Apps and implementation / enhancement of AI technologies for insights & analytics around HCP and rep data, and automation. Understanding and following an evolving Gilead IT delivery methodology, working closely with a cross functional team to enable business teams to be more efficient and effective is critical for this role.

 

Some of the key activities that this role would lead include recording & prioritizing user stories, building, communicating and managing a product roadmap and a release schedule, participating in user acceptance testing, articulating business value for new technology investments and help navigate the Gilead portfolio demand management process.

 

Additionally:

  • Supports and acts as an extension of the US Field Enablement Capability Lead in partnering with the business operations team to enable US field force to be more effective and efficient

  • Works closely with the US Field Enablement Capability Lead to ensure product backlogs are appropriately prioritized, user stories are clear, well documented and translated to the appropriate level of detail for technical teams to act on

  • Acts as the Product Owner for sprint teams and plays a more traditional business analyst role clarifying requirements and verifying solution meets intended requirements in traditional waterfall projects

  • Serve as focal point for the respective business area for IT needs, priorities and translates them into the IT global / regional roadmap for prioritization and solution proposals using agreed, appropriate IT systems, processes and templates

 

Core Tasks, Responsibilities & Scope of Authority:

 

Advise IT and business leadership on capability enablement opportunities. Develops & maintain roadmaps and backlogs for relevant applications

  • Partner with business teams to understand their pain points and identify solutions / enhancements to help improve US sales rep effectiveness, efficiency and experience

  • Engage with product vendors to understand and influence their product release roadmaps to better meet Gilead needs

  • Develop and maintain Gilead & Kite specific roadmaps for relevant applications managed by the team

  • Work with the DevOps lead and team to ensure backlog is assigned to appropriate scheduled releases

  • Leverage existing solutions from the IT toolset and support the business to maximize the benefits delivered from project investment

  • Partner with product vendors to understand solutions and capabilities to support business needs – leveraging investments made and extending existing solution wherever possible.

 

Projects are planned, managed and monitored to assure benefits are met and potential bottlenecks or failures are identified and addressed in due time.

  • Supports US Field Enablement Capability lead in project planning, scoping & budgeting, assessments, meeting Gilead Unity 3.0 methodology requirements as required

  • Define, quantify (where feasible) & articulate expected business benefits and other benefits (e.g., compliance) of a proposed investment

  • Support appropriate selection of solutions and third parties required to support changes identified

  •  Support agile capability delivery wherever feasible to shorten release cycles and deliver business requirements faster

  • Utilize Agile DevOps to record user stories, features and epics. Lead managed services resources to ensure backlog for each application is managed efficiently and accurately

  • Ensure availability of appropriate project plans for implementation addressing organizational, technical, process, change management and training perspectives when introducing new applications or sustainment of existing applications

  • Define & articulate lessons learnt, showcase what good looks like in a project. Build & maintain a repository of best practices over time that can be applied to future projects

  • Lead a post-project analysis of business & other benefits captured; compare with expected benefits laid out in the business case and address causes for deviations, if any

 

Enable a conducive working environment for stakeholders, team members and managed services teams

  • Undertake personal development activities to ensure that the core tasks and responsibilities of this role continue to be met as the role evolves in line with business, technology, industry and regulatory environment changes

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years+ experience in a similar role within the Biotech / Pharmaceutical industry with demonstrated applied technical and functional knowledge in HCP account management data products and tools apart from a strong understanding of the field enablement space

  • Strong techno-functional knowledge of Veeva Commercial Cloud, including but not limited to Align, Veeva / Vault CRM, Veeva Events Management as well as Salesforce platform, Vault platform, Master Data Management and Analytics tools

  • Strong understanding of systems integration approaches and tools, commercial IT architecture standards, recent advances and best practices

  • Comfort working directly with both business partners and IT department / solution providers with minimal supervision

  • High level of personal integrity consistent with Gilead’s core values (Excellence, Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity and Inclusion)

Bachelor's Degree and Eight Years’ Experience

OR

Masters' Degree and Six Years’ Experience

OR

Ph.D.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a multi-vendor scenario; vendor management experience is a plus

  • Experience of working through different stages of the systems development life cycle and SLDC methodologies – Agile, Hybrid

  • Experience working effectively across a matrixed organization and successfully executing and achieving results without direct authority.

  • Experience providing and driving cross-functional and cross-geographical IT solutions to business needs and opportunities

The salary range for this position is: $195,670.00 - $253,220.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
