Position Overview

Lilly has established a centralized Global Customer Office (GCO) to bring together teams dedicated to understanding and serving customers in the complex healthcare ecosystem. As part of the GCO, the Global Brand Activation team is dedicated to creating a strategic global approach to building Lilly as a brand for consumers, customers and collaborators.

Lilly is staffing for an Associate Director of Marketing who will be responsible for supporting the Lilly Brand Office and reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing.

The ideal candidate will have experience in and a passion for brand management, marketing and/or brand strategy. This individual will be responsible for the proper implementation of the Lilly brand identity through oversight of the Brand Book and brand governance, both internally and externally. Responsibility will also include the continued implementation of our recent brand refresh, integrating the brand through our corporate brand sponsorships and partnerships, supporting global creative requests and overseeing brand merchandise for the global organization.

Prior experience in leading complex marketing and branding projects, working with creative teams, and a demonstrated ability to collaborate and get work done across functions with strong operational skills are expected. This person can navigate ambiguity and subjectivity while keeping the work moving and is solutions oriented.

This position has a global remit, with a strong focus in the US. Requires ability to work well with agencies, vendors, creative teams and can communicate at all levels within the business. You are adept at building trust and rapport across cross-functional teams while establishing new capabilities to support the evolving landscape. You must quickly build trust and deliver executional excellence at the same time.

Responsibilities

Leadership: Provide team with strategic insight and creative vision that aligns with the brand book with appropriate training, development, and coaching. Set bold plans for the work across the team, playing to each team member’s strengths and delivering executional and operational excellence for the Brand Office. This position requires inclusive leadership and leadership with a culture-first approach.

Project Management: The role requires the ability to design a strong operational infrastructure to sustain and fulfill global, enterprise-wide branding and marketing requests, while ensuring adherence to brand guidelines and creating consistency and accuracy in how the brand shows up in execution.

Transformation: Support transformation change management by implementing enterprise workstreams across teams to deliver internal programs and assets that establish the application of the Lilly Brand across the enterprise.

Collaboration and Agency/Vendor management: Work closely with external agency partners, vendors and sponsorship/partnership teams, as well as internal cross functional partners to oversee and support the use of the Lilly Brand, globally. Need to have ability to work within an IAT agency model. If and where applicable, handle external agency/vendor relationships to accomplish goals. Develop action plans as needed based on regular partnership evaluation.

Asset Management: Implement strong organizational and operational skills to manage brand resources and assets, oversee utilization and catalog.

Risk Management: Ensure compliance with brand guidelines, policies, and procedures. Maintain good practices across Privacy, IT, Analytics, Legal and Regulatory.

Financial Management: Instill detailed fundamentals into budget management across team.

Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years’ experience in brand management and/or marketing.
  • Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization and/or visas for this role.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Creative agency or sports entertainment/marketing partnerships and/or sponsorships experience a plus
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite a plus
  • Familiarity with print production a plus
  • Familiarity with brand merchandising a plus
  • Must be highly collaborative in nature and understand how to get things done within a complex, layered organization
  • Team player that understands broader vision and can drive to action while keeping the team engaged and motivated
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Self-directed, with strong decision-making skills, strong project management, budget management and prioritization skills.
  • Have a consistent record in influencing levels above them and outside of their functional area
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic, constantly evolving environment
  • Comfort with ambiguity and have the ability to resolve problems quickly with high levels of subjectivity
  • Record of successfully working on cross-functional teams to deliver results

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills with high attention to detail

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$122,250 - $179,300

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
