IQVIA is looking to transform our ETS Linux operations from manual support to a modern framework built on automation and infrastructure as code.

We count on our Linux Systems Engineers to empower our users with a rich feature set, high availability, and stellar performance to pursue their missions. As we expand our customer deployments, we are currently seeking an experienced Linux Systems Engineer to help join in modernizing our infrastructure through automation, orchestration, and scalable system design. Specifically, we are searching for someone who brings fresh ideas, demonstrates a unique and informed viewpoint, and enjoys collaborating with a cross-functional team to develop real-world automation solutions and streamline operational efficiency at every level.

What you’ll do:

· Contribute to a team of Linux Engineers to help the transformation of our global Linux infrastructure from reactive support to proactive automation, monitoring system health, configurations, and provisioning with a holistic view of the entire environment.

· Help set KPIs relating to goals for the team from year to year based on what is required by IQVIA to get the job done.

· Design and build automation frameworks, tooling, and infrastructure-as-code solutions to eliminate manual processes and enable self-service capabilities across the platform.

· Enhance system reliability, consistency, and deployment velocity through automated configuration management, orchestration, and standardized operational practices.

· Measure and optimize system performance while developing automation strategies that scale ahead of customer needs, reduce operational toil, and drive continuous improvement.

· Provide engineering expertise and operational support for multiple large-scale, distributed Linux environments, building repeatable solutions that reduce manual intervention and improve efficiency.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

· Gather and analyze metrics from both operating systems and applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding.

· Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures.

· Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning.

· Create sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts.

· Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service level objectives.

Required Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other highly technical, scientific discipline.

· 5+ years of hands-on Linux system administration experience (Oracle Linux /RHEL/CentOS/)

· Strong scripting and programming skills: Bash, Python, and/or Go

· Experience with automation frameworks: Puppet, Ansible, Foreman, and/or Katello

· Code repository methodologies utilizing tools such as git.

· Experience with monitoring and observability tools.

· Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware) and identity management (Centrify), Windows AD.

· Familiarity with database systems: Oracle, PostgreSQL, and/or MySQL

Additional Qualifications:

· Experience in a 24/7 operations environment with follow-the-sun support model

· Track record of leading technical projects and managing infrastructure initiatives from design through implementation

· Designing and implementing opportunities discovered from identifying problems, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.

Skills Required

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related major or 10+ years relative working experience
  • 10+ years of experience in managing Linux and Unix platforms
  • 5+ years in a management role with multiple reports
  • Experience maintaining shift and on-call rotations
  • Good knowledge of Red Hat/Oracle Linux fundamentals and troubleshooting
  • Good knowledge on LVM concepts on creation, expansion and removal
  • Good knowledge of networking concepts and troubleshooting
  • Conversant with storage related tasks related to Linux and VMware
  • Moderate knowledge of remote management such as iLO, idrac, firmware updates
  • Knowledge of vCenter usage for performing VMware related tasks
  • Conversant with patching methodologies and procedures - knowledge of spacewalk preferable
  • Basic knowledge on databases concepts preferably Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL
  • Experience with Oracle RAC, ASM from server configuration side preferred
  • Knowledge of backup functionalities such as IBM's TSM, Actifio and/or Commvault
  • AIX, HP-UX and Solaris experience
  • Must be capable of conducting RCA for repeated incidents
  • Good knowledge of ITIL concepts, prioritizing tickets, dealing with SLA
  • Willingness to work on 24/7 shifts and handle on call
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication
  • Docker/Kubernetes knowledge
  • DevOps mindset to include Puppet, Foreman, ansible automation
  • Exposure in foreman, puppet, git, jenkins, spacewalk, collaboration, ansible, kickstart
  • Cloud experience (Azure is a plus)
