At Lilly in Germany, we are currently planning and building a high-tech production facility in Alzey (Rhineland-Palatinate), which is expected to expand our production of injectable drugs from 2027 and employ up to 1,000 skilled workers. To make the most of the potential of our innovative production site, we are looking for motivated reinforcements who want to work with us on an equal footing and under the three Lilly values of "Excellence", "Integrity" and "Respect for People" to ensure the supply of Lilly medicines to patients in Germany, Europe and worldwide.

Assoc. Director Engineering (m/w/d)

The Assoc. Director Engineering is responsible for setting strategies and objectives for his or her area within the Alzey Facility.  The Assoc. Director partners with other leaders to influence and implement the organization’s functional agenda, Business Plan priorities, and GMP Plan objectives for the Site.  The Assoc. Director is responsible for developing employees as necessary to meet these business requirements.

What tasks await you?

  • Develop, mentor, coach, and recognize employees within their organization
  • Develop and implement business plan objectives
  • Track team performance in executing and completing objectives
  • Ensure proper resources and tools are in place to execute team objectives
  • Staff the team with personnel capable of meeting business needs and objectives
  • Act as role model in demonstrating Lilly’s core values
  • Build and drive safety and quality culture within organization
  • Remove barriers that impact team performance
  • Provide technical input/support, as required
  • Develop local processes and procedures in accordance with the FUME (Facilities, Utilities, Maintenance and Equipment) system
  • Assure an adequate number of qualified resources to perform asset management processes
  • Meet the requirements of the FUME System through execution of local processes and procedures.
  • Use and encourage Lean tools to achieve success

How do you convince us?

  • Recognized strong team leadership skills
  • Technical competence in area of responsibility (typically 5 years’ experience, or more)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels (both oral and written)
  • Strong talent development skills, especially coaching and people development
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance (GMP, OSHA, etc.)
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, working safely and accountable for supporting all HSE Corporate and Site Goals.
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Previous supervisory/leadership experience
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree, preferably a Master's degree or equivalent in Engineering, IT, or related field
  • Occasional travel may be required when in operation, but more frequent travel required in the first 18 months.
