Control Risks is seeking a commercially minded and operationally focused Associate Director to lead our Embedded Consulting business across Latin America, including Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, and other key markets.
This role is responsible for driving business growth, managing client relationships, overseeing contracts, and leading the delivery of embedded consulting programs throughout the region. The successful candidate will work closely with global, regional and local security, intelligence and investigations teams to ensure consistent service delivery, workforce management, and client satisfaction across multiple countries.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing people, process and client relationships across complex multinational environments within the domains of security consulting, operational security, or risk management more broadly. They should have a strong understanding of embedded security services, contingent workforce management, client relationship development, and the delivery of high-quality security programs across diverse markets. Experience working with local security teams, managing personnel in the field, and supporting commercial growth within a security or risk advisory environment is essential. Strong leadership, stakeholder management, operational discipline, and commercial acumen are critical for success in this role.
Tasks and responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the delivery and growth of Embedded Consulting services across Latin America, with a focus on operational security, protective services, corporate security, and risk management programs.
- Serve as the primary regional point of contact for embedded security consulting engagements, ensuring strong client relationships, clear communication, and consistent service delivery. Ensure program quality and client satisfaction.
- Work closely with local security, intelligence and investigations teams in Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, and other regional markets to align staffing, delivery standards, security protocols, and client requirements.
- Manage a geographically dispersed workforce of embedded security consultants, ensuring high standards of professionalism, operational discipline, accountability, and performance.
- Oversee workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management for embedded personnel in partnership with local teams, Talent Acquisition, and HR.
- Support the deployment of qualified security professionals into client environments, ensuring personnel are appropriately matched to client needs, risk profiles, and operational requirements.
- Partner closely with other regional Embedded Consulting management teams to develop and maintain scalable processes for embedded security delivery, including onboarding standards, reporting expectations, escalation protocols, performance tracking, and quality assurance.
- Oversee contract performance, budgets, billing, expense management, renewals, and financial performance for the regional embedded consulting portfolio.
- Build and maintain trusted client relationships while identifying opportunities to expand embedded security support, including additional staffing, consulting services, protective services, and broader risk management solutions.
- Support business development efforts, including proposal development, RFP responses, pricing input, client presentations, and scope expansion opportunities.
- Monitor program performance and use operational data, client feedback, and security insights to improve service delivery and strengthen client outcomes.
- Ensure delivery is aligned with Control Risks’ standards while accounting for local regulatory, labor, cultural, and security considerations across Latin America.
- Drive collaboration across regional and global teams to ensure embedded consulting programs are delivered safely and consistently, and with commercial success.
Requirements
- English and Spanish working level proficiency. Portuguese is also desired.
- 5–7 years of experience in operational security, security consulting, risk management, embedded services, or related professional services.
- 3+ years of people management experience.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or relevant security, risk, or project management certifications a plus.
- Experience managing security programs, embedded personnel, or contingent workforces across complex or multinational environments.
- Proven ability to build and manage client relationships with corporate security, risk, operations, and business stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of operational security delivery, including staffing, onboarding, performance management, reporting, and escalation processes.
- Commercial experience with business growth, contract management, budgeting, billing, renewals, and financial performance.
- Ability to operate across multiple countries, cultures, regulatory environments, and time zones.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- PMP or equivalent certification preferred.
- Travel: This job requires the ability to potentially travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of time.
