The Role

You’ve got a sketchbook full of ideas and the skills to bring them to life.

You obsess over line weight, color palettes, and how things feel—and we love you for it.

At Uncommon Goods, we design products that surprise and delight—and we’re looking for an Associate Product Designer with a strong illustration background to help us bring original concepts to life. You’ll work closely with our Senior Designer and Merchandising teams to ideate, sketch, prototype, and refine products that look good and sell.

This is more than support work—it’s hands-on, idea-driven, and full of room to grow.

This hybrid role works on-site at our waterfront Brooklyn location one to two days a week.

You’ll Get To:

  • Sketch, illustrate, and conceptualize original products across Home, Kitchen, and Gift categories.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring those ideas from concept to shelf.
  • Develop CADs, spec sheets, packaging mockups, and visual assets.
  • Dive into trend research and explore playful, modern, and artful styles.
  • Learn what makes products not just beautiful—but commercially successful.

You’ll Thrive Here If You:

  • Have 3+  years of experience in product design or illustration—or a portfolio that speaks louder than a resume.
  • Are a natural illustrator—hand-drawn or digital, whimsical or refined.
  • Know your way around Adobe Creative Suite and basic CAD tools.
  • Have a strong point of view and can take feedback like a pro.
  • Love turning ideas into real things. (We’re not just moodboarding over here—we’re launching.)

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience with packaging design or storytelling through product.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Passion for gifts, design, and creating things that make people smile.

Why Join Now?
We’re building smart, lean, and creative. You’ll be part of a small but mighty team, have real input, and see your work come to life in customers’ hands.

What We Do

Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Brooklyn, NY, Uncommon Goods offers remarkable designs by independent makers, and we do it with a positive impact on both people and our planet.
