What this job involves:

As a Workplace Associate Design Manager for JLL's Global Design team, you will hold a talented position based in New York with responsibilities within the Americas region and reporting to the Americas Team Lead. The role offers a unique client-side opportunity and the privilege to work both in (and on) some of the most unique office fit-outs in the world while working closely with best-in-class architectural practices across the region to deliver projects with Capital Project, Facilities, Infrastructure, and AV partners. You'll provide support Design Management for various projects in the Americas region while maintaining a high standard of care to look and feel (including the implementation and technical coordination of standards) for all environments, including where architecture meets MEP, AV, IT, and other building systems.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Provide support Design Management for various projects in Americas region while maintaining high standard of care to look and feel (including implementation and technical coordination of standards) for all environments
  • Support workplace management teams in developing design solutions for business requirements, including management of drawing production via 3rd party as required
  • Adhere to established global standards and global design process with understanding of standard furniture configurations and finish applications
  • Provide written, verbal, and visual communication/direction to consultant teams regarding planning, presentation, or standards-related feedback with emphasis on documentation
  • For Capital Projects: Support Design Management of complex external consultant teams consisting of Architects, Engineers, and specialists while working closely with Project Management team
  • Assist in developing and delivering architectural briefs to Architectural teams/consultants based on collection of business and stakeholder requirements
  • Assist in design portion of Capital Delivery including workplace design from inception to completion (close-out and end-user move-in), including management of consultant deliverables and overall design process
  • For Operational/Facilities Projects: Provide design input and/or solutions as required for maintenance and improvements of office portfolio
  • Participate in ongoing development of group's work on Workplace Design Strategy, Design Standards, and Process while working with established planning metrics, standard space configurations, and inclusivity requirements
Required Qualifications:
  • Professional degree in Architecture or Interior Design required
  • 3+ years' experience working on commercial Interior Design projects, corporate interiors experience required
  • Solid knowledge of building codes and accessibility guidelines with ability to research codes in various jurisdictions assigned (North, South, and LATAM Markets)
  • Experience in architectural design including MEP and complex technical building systems, with focus on interiors
  • Understanding of trends and history of architectural design, furniture, and materials
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively as proactive collaborator
  • Excellent communicator with well-developed presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Strong space planning skills with focus on creating efficiencies while driving innovative planning
  • Extensive knowledge of design principles, aesthetics, and general knowledge of budget tiers
  • Creative problem-solving abilities with enthusiasm for learning new skills
  • Seeks out and responds well to feedback and direction from others
  • Flexible, strategic approach to working effectively under pressure and with sense of urgency
  • Technical knowledge of furniture, furniture systems, and ability to work with dealers/manufacturers
  • Technical knowledge of contract drawings, details, and construction abilities
  • Construction administration and field experience required
  • Fluent in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must submit professional portfolio of workplace projects and relevant sectors
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Progress towards architectural license or NCIDQ certification
  • Understanding of existing contracts and vendor relationships for furniture, finishes, and architectural elements
  • Ability to navigate exceptions and circumstances of when using non-standardized products
  • Strong design aesthetic with attention to detail and emphasis on concept and design "story"
  • Design approach that offers balance of creative and technical aspects within corporate environment
  • Experience implementing and developing Process templates and protocols library
  • Knowledge of global standards implementation and workplace design strategy
  • Experience with photo and digital library maintenance
  • Understanding of capital delivery process and consultant deliverable management

Estimated compensation for this position:

90,000.00 – 106,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
