Junior Data Operations Engineer

About The Role 💻 

We’re looking for an Junior Data Operations Engineer to join our Data Strategy team. If you’re a Data Engineer and you enjoy leveraging code to quickly adapt to changing needs in an operative environment, or if you are a Data Analyst who can code in python to solve operative issues, we are looking for you.

You will be part of the Data Strategy team in charge of growing our Sustainability database, allowing us to enhance the productivity of the research team and reduce the operation burden of the development team.

You will interact with the development team as well as with the research team.

What You’ll Be Doing 🚀

Working as an Junior Data Operations Engineer you will be responsible for: 

• Consulting data and using your coding skills (Python and SQL) for managing data from different sources (S3, PostgreSQL, etc.) to define the information needed for data collection efforts.
• Creating dynamic data assets for various use cases using DBT and Airflow to enable analytic consumption.
• Developing process operations and automations by leveraging orchestration tools like Airflow, APIs, and applying best practices to streamline business processes.
• Delivering data through existing pipelines or supporting the creation of new ELT pipelines, including the implementation of soda validation checks.
• Serving and explaining data effectively to both technical and non-technical teams.
• Developing solution architecture diagrams and supporting the implementation using industry best practices.
• Offering technical support to business stakeholders for their operational needs.
• Supporting the configuration and integration of third-party tools and executing web scraping tasks.
• Writing maintainable code with tests, applying version control, debugging effectively, and uploading it to GitLab.

The role is based in Barcelona/Madrid

Requirements

What You’ll Need 👀

• 2+ years industry experience in the data analytics and/or data engineering field
• At least 1 year of professional experience creating Airflow DAGs or modeling using DBT (Data Build Tool)
• You possess strong SQL and Python skills
• You are familiar with using web scraping tools like beautiful soup or selenium
• You hold a degree in a quantitative field (CS, Engineer, Math, Physics, … ). Masters degree preferred.
• Can work well with both Business and Technology stakeholders to deliver initiatives on time.
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills. (Minimum C1 level-proficient user). 

Nice To Have ✨

• Experience working with APIs
• Comfortable playing a technical support role (i.e. setting up local environments)
• Familiar with practices around data quality and data validations
• Experience in the financial sector
• Knowledge of ESG data and sustainability aspects
