Kimball Midwest, a national distributor of maintenance, repair, and operation products, is searching for an Associate Data Engineer for our Columbus, OH location.

Responsibilities
- Accountable for assisting in the development and maintenance of Kimball Midwest's data management platforms.
- Builds and maintains data pipelines that ingest, transform, and store data from internal and external source systems (e.g., D365 F&SCM, CRM) into Fabric's Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold), using established metadata-driven frameworks and PySpark/SQL notebooks
- Assists in designing dimensional data models and standardized table structures that support analytics and reporting across Kimball Midwest business domains
- Develops monitoring, alerting, and reporting solutions for Fabric and the legacy EDW (Azure Synapse) to support platform health and monthly leadership visibility
- Monitors pipeline orchestration and resolve basic failures related to data quality, performance, or availability
- Applies enterprise data standards — Fabric naming conventions, calculations, and approved Business Glossary definitions — so curated data stays consistent and trustworthy
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer related field or equivalent experience
- Foundational experience with SQL and relational databases
- Exposure to data engineering or analytics tools such as Python/PySpark, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or Power BI
- Basic understanding of ETL/ELT concepts and data modeling principles
- Familiarity with version control and collaborative development practices
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) a plus
