Business Function

Consumer Banking Group (CBG) enables and empowers the bank through an efficient, agile, and resilient operating model with a strategic focus on productivity, quality, controls, technology, people capabilities, and innovation. Within CBG, we manage critical banking processes and leverage data-driven insights to enhance customer experience, operational efficiency, and business decision-making across multiple banking channels.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Data Insights

• Partner with business stakeholders to understand business objectives, processes, reporting requirements, and data needs.
• Gather, analyze, document, and validate business and functional requirements for data-driven initiatives.
• Translate business requirements into analytical requirements, data definitions, reporting specifications, and user stories.
• Perform data analysis to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and opportunities that support business decision-making.
• Develop actionable insights and recommendations through data exploration and analysis.

Data Management & Analytics

• Perform data extraction, validation, reconciliation, and analysis using SQL, PySpark, Sparkola, and Excel.
• Analyze large datasets to ensure data quality, completeness, consistency, and accuracy.
• Support the creation and maintenance of datasets used for business reporting, dashboards, and analytics.
• Work with data engineering and technology teams to validate data transformations, business rules, and data lineage.
• Support development and enhancement of reports and dashboards using platforms such as QlikSense and Superset.

Stakeholder Management & Collaboration

• Act as a bridge between business users, operations teams, and technology teams to ensure successful delivery of business requirements.
• Facilitate requirement gathering sessions, workshops, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define KPIs, metrics, and reporting standards.
• Provide data-driven support for strategic initiatives, process improvements, and business reviews.
• Assist users in resolving data-related queries and provide analytical support when required.

Delivery Governance & Controls

• Manage project deliverables, requirements, and priorities through JIRA and Agile delivery frameworks.
• Ensure compliance with DBS data governance, risk management, security, and regulatory standards.
• Maintain proper documentation of business requirements, data mappings, process flows, and controls.
• Support audit, data lineage, and governance initiatives to ensure transparency and traceability of data assets.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Competencies

Strong Hands-on Experience

• SQL (complex queries, joins, data analysis, optimization, and troubleshooting)
• Advanced MS Excel (Pivot Tables, Power Query, Lookups, Data Validation, Reconciliation, Dashboarding)
• Data analysis, validation, and reporting
• Requirement gathering and functional documentation

Working Knowledge Of

• PySpark
• CML (Cloudera Machine Learning)
• Data visualization

Analytical Skills

• Data profiling, reconciliation, and quality analysis

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 3–7 years of experience in Business Analysis, Data Analysis, Management Information Systems (MIS), Reporting, or Analytics roles.
• Experience in Consumer Banking, Retail Banking, Operations, Risk, or Financial Services domains.
• Exposure to data governance, audit, lineage, regulatory reporting, and control frameworks.
• Familiarity with banking products, operational processes, and customer journey analytics is advantageous.
