Job Description

The Associate Credit Research Analyst will perform fundamental credit research within multiple sectors of the US investment grade corporate bond market, with a specific focus on utilities and industrials sectors.  The ideal candidate will be deeply interested in markets and investing, intellectually curious, performance-oriented, collaborative, commercial, competitive, and highly driven.

The analyst is expected to become the sector expert, balancing in-depth knowledge of an expansive coverage universe with multiple other responsibilities supporting the broader success of the Invesco Fixed Income platform. Key responsibilities include generating well-supported investment recommendations, conducting in-depth fundamental investment analysis, developing fundamental credit opinions, using credit valuation analysis and sector knowledge to inform relative value views, assigning allocation ratings to each credit in the analyst’s coverage universe, tracking and communicating corporate updates across the analyst’s coverage universe and maintaining a constant dialogue with portfolio managers and investment colleagues across the Invesco Fixed Income platform. The analyst will also be responsible for monitoring broader market and sector risks and opportunities and proactively communicating these to the fixed income platform. This role requires an individual with a deep passion for markets and investing, a positive attitude, a team-focused & commercial mentality, extremely high standards of personal excellence & integrity and keen attention to detail. The analyst is expected to actively maintain and communicate proprietary investment ratings, sector views, investment recommendations and other risk assessments.  The analyst will be expected to identify, assume and manage credit risks and work effectively with analyst team members, traders, portfolio managers, client relations teams, other internal colleagues as well as external partners.  The analyst will be expected to contribute to the broader success of the Invesco Fixed Income platform, effectively participate in sector team presentations and be an active participant in client relations and marketing efforts.

Over time, this role offers the opportunity to grow into a trusted sector specialist whose views meaningfully impact portfolio positioning, performance and client outcomes across the US investment grade platform.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Develop and articulate defensible investment recommendations, fundamental credit ratings and allocation ratings for each issuer in the analyst’s coverage universe

  • Conduct deep, fundamentally driven investment research on companies within the utility and industrial sectors

  • Develop and communicate issuer level, sector level and broader market relative value assessments

  • Produce well researched, concise investment reports for global investment professionals

  • Be the subject matter expert on relevant regulatory developments that may affect coverage universe

  • Recommend changes in holdings of assigned credits and changes in investment recommendations, both at the individual credit and sector levels

  • Proactively identify emerging risks, opportunities and mispricing's within coverage universe and surface insights to portfolio managers

  • Communicate effectively with investment teams and investment team partners

  • Contribute to sector team presentations and other platform-wide events

  • Make due diligence visits and attend industry conferences as appropriate

  • Ensure all activities are consistent with Invesco’s conduct principles and assigned training is completed on a timely basis

  • Participate in client relations and marketing efforts
