Job Description:

TD Securities is seeking an Associate to join the Corporate Equity Derivatives desk within our Global Equity Derivatives group (GED). The role focuses on pricing, structuring, and developing our equity derivatives offering for our growing corporate client base. The successful candidate will play a key role in growing our existing franchise with attributable recognition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Price, quote, structure and trade equity derivatives products (convertible call spread, margin loan, prepaid forward, accelerated share repurchase, etc)

  • Perform in-depth analysis on bespoke situations, with a focus on single name equity risks, liquidity, corporate actions, as well as legal / structural risks specific to customized transactions

  • Partner closely with Equity Capital Market, Corporate and Investment Banking, GED sales and structuring globally to structure new deals and deliver OneTD success

  • Prepare new deal memo or new business approval material, focus on evaluating risk reward, return on capital, funding, and other implications

  • Lead conversations with internal risk partners including credit risk or market risk

  • Propose and implement new products development to meet corporate client monetization and financing objectives, for both existing North American clients and new client segments (Europe and Asia)

  • On-desk research and trading analysis. Develop processes and tools to improve risk management and drive optimal hedging decisions

  • Stay fully informed on market data, economic information, key industry developments, and regulatory standards at all times to make sound decisions

  • Liaise closely with the bank’s other operations in Canada, US, Europe, Asia Pacific

  • Ensure all aspects of trade life cycles function smoothly

  • Demonstrate governance, control and risk focused behaviors in alignment with TD policies and practices

Depth & Scope:

  • Gathers, researches information and analyzes the market

  • Executes detailed data analysis and valuation

  • Provides in-depth market reports and expert recommendations

  • Identifies issues affecting clients and provides recommendations to remedy

  • Develops deep client relationships and presents new ideas to clients

  • Executes trades and secures deals with new clients

  • Keeps market-making traders informed of relevant issues with their customers and products

  • Obtains market prices from market-making traders and executes the trade

  • Ensures all trades are confirmed with the broker/dealer

  • Inputs trades (post execution), and Verifies transactions meet company policies and followed approved guidelines

  • Researches and resolves trade discrepancies

  • Confirms trade blotters against trades booked in systems

  • Coordinates with back office on all failed trade status and communicates to front office

  • Coordinates with back office on position breaks and reports to the front office

  • Assists traders in mark-to-market process

  • Coordinates trade reconciliation discrepancy resolution with back office

  • Looks for ways to improve work flow efficiencies

  • Reads and understands the Trading Supervision Standard

  • Demonstrates governance, control and risk management behaviors in alignment with TD policies and practices

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree, or specialized training / equivalent work experience

  • 3+ Years of related experience

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, establishes priorities, and possesses strong communication, analytical and problem solving skills

  • Management experience and solid computer skills a must

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in structuring (private or public side), trading or related roles within a financial institution

  • Prior experience in Corporate Equity Derivatives in United States market is a plus

  • Prior experience with legal documents and credit / loan approval process is a plus

  • Intellectual curiosity in structuring, trading, deal closing, analyzing company fundamentals, valuations, and liquidity. Prior derivatives trading experience is not mandatory for this role

  • Entrepreneurial, eager to learn and to explore new business opportunities

  • Detail oriented, diligent, and able to adapt to competitive deal closing timelines

  • Able to work independently and in a team environment with strong communication skills

  • Computer programming and data analytic skills to develop tools is a plus
