IQVIA’s Financial Institutions Consulting (FIC) team advises investors (inc private equity, venture capital, hedge funds) on biopharma and life sciences investments, including commercial due diligence, asset and target screening, portfolio company growth strategy and exit/divestment strategy.
Role & Responsibilities
As an Associate Consultant within IQVIA's Financial Institutions Consulting (FIC) team, you will contribute to the delivery of consulting engagements focused on biopharma and life sciences investments. Projects typically include commercial due diligence (buy- and sell-side), asset and company valuation, asset screening, portfolio strategy, and growth strategy for investors and portfolio companies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the delivery of projects by conducting analyses and developing insights that address client questions across due diligence, valuation, asset assessment, and growth strategy engagements.
- Leverage IQVIA data assets, industry expertise, and consulting methodologies to support project workstreams and deliver evidence-based recommendations.
- Conduct primary and secondary research, including expert interviews, market assessments, competitor analyses, forecasting, and evaluation of commercial opportunities.
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to assess market attractiveness, competitive dynamics, business performance, and investment opportunities.
- Translate research findings and analytical outputs into clear, actionable insights for internal teams and client presentations.
- Contribute to the development of high-quality client deliverables, including presentations, reports, and strategic recommendations.
- Participate in client meetings, helping to communicate project findings and support discussions with investors and senior stakeholders.
- Collaborate effectively within cross-functional and multicultural teams, demonstrating strong project ownership and accountability for assigned deliverables.
- Support business development activities, including proposal preparation, credential development, and market research.
- Contribute to broader FIC team initiatives such as intellectual property development, knowledge management, training, recruitment, and thought leadership activities.
- Continue developing expertise in consulting methodologies, transaction advisory, and key trends shaping the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.
About You
Candidates interested in joining IQVIA FIC as an Associate Consultant should have:
- A Bachelor's, Master's, PhD, or equivalent degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, Economics, Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
- Approximately 2–4 years of professional experience in strategy consulting, transaction advisory, corporate development, business development & licensing (BD&L), or within a financial institution (e.g., private equity, venture capital, investment banking).
- Experience supporting projects related to commercial due diligence, transaction advisory, valuation, forecasting, asset identification, portfolio strategy, growth strategy, or other investment-related topics within healthcare and life sciences.
- Exposure to advising pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical technology, healthcare services clients, and/or financial investors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with experience interpreting quantitative and qualitative information and translating findings into business implications.
- Experience conducting market research, competitive assessments, commercial analyses, and/or forecasting exercises.
- Ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary and fast-paced project teams, managing multiple priorities and delivering high-quality outputs under tight timelines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation development, business writing, and client-facing communication.
- A demonstrated interest in healthcare investing, life sciences innovation, and strategic transactions.
- Knowledge of key trends, market dynamics, and current developments within the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.
- Evidence of strong professional development and increasing responsibility within previous roles.
In addition to the skills and experience above, an Associate Consultant should have:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. MBA not required but a plus
Fluency in English (spoken and written)
