The Role

How you'll support our mission!  


ESO is seeking an Associate Cloud Operations Engineer to join our Cloud Operations team. As a member of the Cloud Operations team, you serve as a steward for the infrastructure and services that power ESO’s suite of products. These products are delivered using Microsoft Azure Cloud Services, and you support our mission by:   

  • Ensuring that the environments behind our products and services are secure, stable, and available to our customers.   
  • Supporting your colleagues who depend on and leverage Azure services and our engineering environments to deliver our products & services.    

Reporting to the Cloud Operations Manager you will be part of our Engineering team based in our Belfast Office. 


What you’ll be doing: The day-to-day:  

  • Triage inbound service requests and complete assigned work within expected timelines. 
  • Monitor and respond to system and infrastructure alerts. 
  • Collaborate with other teams to solve technical issues & assist in determining root causes of problems. 
  • Remediate systems vulnerabilities and meet cyber security compliance standards. 
  • Write and review documentation used for sustaining our operations. 
  • Automate workflows, develop & maintain scripts to improve operational efficiency. 
  • Be open to learning, taking on challenges and adapting to change.

  • Gain exposure to the architecture and design of a world class product suite. 
  • Support multiple cloud operating models such as hybrid cloud, serverless, cloud enabled and cloud native. 
  • Be welcomed by a supportive organization and team that will ensure that you are set up for success in your role. 
  • Participate in on-call support during off hours on a rotational basis. Comfortable working with Alerting systems. 


Your qualifications:

  • 2+ years in an operational/cloud role (Azure, AWS, GSP). 
  • Experience with Windows and/or Linux system administration. 

The things that are nice to have for this role: 

  • Experience working in an Agile environment (Scrum/Kanban). 
  • Scripting & automation experience.  
  • Exposure to CI/CD tech-stacks such as Terraform, Ansible and Azure DevOps.
