Job Summary:
At HKEX Group, we are committed to best practices in handling advising on the legality of projects undertaken, preparing and reviewing contracts to which any group member is a party, amending and advising on the provisions of the rules of the Stock Exchange, the Futures Exchange and the recognized clearing houses.Working in the HKEX Sustainability Division, the role is crucial in driving the integration of sustainability considerations into financial markets, promoting responsible investing and supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy, overseeing variety of corporate responsibility and philanthropy initiatives as well as developing and conveying HKEX’s sustainability narratives to all stakeholders, enhancing HKEX’s leadership and reputation in sustainability.
In particular, the role will also have additional focuses on developing, nurturing, and advocating Core Climate (our proprietary carbon marketplace) and firm-wise ESG products which leverage on the exciting global trends in decarbonization to shape our future.
Job Duties:
Our ideal team member will be a proactive individual with the knowledge and confidence to handle and drive operational tasks as below
Support new strategic initiatives and business development of the HKEX’s Sustainability strategy, potentially connecting with GBA and other parts of Mainland China;
Provide advice to business units and senior management on operational, legal and regulatory issues (with collaboration with legal and secretarial service division) arising from the day-to-day operation of HKEX’s Core Climate platform;
Review a wide range of contracts covering the engagement of vendors, IT contracts, regulatory cooperation and other aspects relating to Core Climate platform;
Provide advice on the documentation impacts of relevant regulations both regionally and internationally from carbon and ESG product’s perspectives;
Develop and implement corporate responsibility and philanthropy initiatives that align with the priority areas outlined in the HKEX’s Sustainability Strategy
Facilitate the Group’s sustainability governance and ensure its effectiveness in attaining sustainability goals and objective
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to guarantee the effective implementation of strategic initiatives across various domain
Oversee and monitor projects, regulate budgets and expenses, conduct evaluations and impact assessments, and compile reports and impact narrative
Requirements:
The ideal candidate for this role should possess the following attributes:
University degree or equivalent, preferably in Environmental Science / Management / Law, Geography, Chemistry or Sustainable Finance;
Sound understating on corporate governance and the emerging trend on Carbon and ESG Market and Corporate Responsibility
5 – 7 years of experiences in Carbon and ESG Market and Corporate Responsibility and / or related fields
Excellent written and spoken English and good Chinese language skills are essential, and proficiency in Putonghua would be an added advantage; and
A team player with strong commercial sense and analytical skill and the ability to work independently and support senior management.
