We are rapidly expanding across multiple states and building a durable, cash flow-generative healthcare platform. As we scale, we are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to help strengthen our finance and accounting operations.
Role OverviewThe Associate Accountant will support the day-to-day accounting function at Pharmacy1st Health. This is a hands-on role for someone early in their accounting career who is organized, accurate, and eager to learn how finance works inside a fast-growing healthcare company.
You will assist with bookkeeping, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense tracking, month-end close, and financial reporting. You will work closely with the finance team to ensure our accounting records are accurate, timely, and well-organised.
This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to build a foundation in accounting while gaining exposure to healthcare operations, pharmacy acquisitions, multi-site financial reporting, and startup finance.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting Operations• Support daily accounting activities across Pharmacy1st’s pharmacy and clinic operations
• Record transactions accurately in the company’s accounting system
• Maintain organised documentation for invoices, receipts, payments, and vendor records
• Assist with proper coding of expenses by location, department, and account
• Process vendor invoices and ensure proper approvals are obtained
• Track upcoming payments and support timely payment processing
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
• Maintain accurate vendor files and payment records
• Support tracking of deposits, receipts, and customer payments
• Assist with reconciling pharmacy and clinic revenue to bank activity
• Help monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on missing information
• Support cash reporting across multiple locations
• Assist with monthly bank reconciliations
• Reconcile credit card transactions, expense reports, and operating accounts
• Identify and investigate discrepancies in financial records
• Ensure balances are accurate and supported by documentation
• Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Support preparation of monthly financial reports
• Help maintain schedules for prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts
• Work with the finance team to improve close timelines and accuracy
• Support preparation of location-level financial reports
• Help organise financial data for leadership review
• Assist with variance analysis and basic financial reporting
• Support special projects related to acquisitions, new site launches, and clinic expansion
• Help improve accounting workflows and documentation
• Identify opportunities to reduce manual work and improve accuracy
• Support implementation of better financial controls as the company scales
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
• 1 to 3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Basic understanding of accounting principles
• Comfortable working with spreadsheets and financial data
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
• High integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information
• Experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar accounting software
• Experience in healthcare, pharmacy, retail, or multi-site businesses
• Familiarity with accounts payable, reconciliations, or month-end close
• Interest in building a long-term career in accounting or finance
• CPA track or interest in pursuing accounting certification is a plus
