The Associate Account Executive is an entry level outside sales position in the sales organization whose primary responsibility will be managing a select group of brokers to achieve sales goals. The Associate AE is expected to work with brokers across the regions for the benefit of the overall Broker Desk sales team performance. This role will work closely with Account Executives, Sales Managers and other sales and origination teams, to build relationships with brokers and consulting channels externally. The role will require developing an understand of various broker business models, basic understanding of the complete NRG Product Suite, strategies for uncovering broker needs, strategies for developing trust to with brokers, developing sales analytical skill, and building strong relationships with our customers/brokers.

The primary objectives of the Associate Account Executive are to develop a track record of closing business with select brokers, perform sales calls, and become familiar with and sell the full value of NRG products and services.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Execute specific sales strategies and meet or exceed sales goals as directed toward maximizing company objectives and goals.
  • Create a positive broker experience by accurately and timely responding to requests.
  • Create, execute and monitor broker business plans.
  • Engage with broker ownership and develop new contacts within existing broker relationship.
  • Communicate clearly with peers and across support departments.
  • Diligent follow through on structured process required for specific sales initiatives
  • Develop broker meeting agenda's, execute and follow-up
  • Coordinate, contribute and follow-up on broker events and broker training sessions
  • Utilize CRM (SFDC) to track prospecting, task, events and future activities
  • Independently create ideas and strategies, and deliver on that strategy to grw the broker business
  • Perform customer research and or contact customers, as requested by Sales Leaders
  • Ability to work collaboratively with employees within the sales function and across functions including Marketing, Sales Operations, Systems implementations, Credit, and Product development
  • Responsible for the quality and timely completion of deal processing
  • Communicate with your manager about their business challenges and expectations of the Account Executive

Working Conditions:

  • Open office environment 3 days per week.
  • 50% travel requirement to broker/customer locations throughout the region to establish, maintain and grow customer/broker business

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ideal Candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, management, or related field from an accredited college or university OR HS Diploma and 5 years of related experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in indirect or consultative sales.

  • Driven, hard-working individual with high standards for self and others.
  • Critical thinker with good judgment skills who doesn't simply accept a "business as usual" approach.
  • Inquisitive mindset focused on understanding the changing power/gas market landscape and the impact of renewables and other key market fundamentals.
  • Ability to build strong customer relationships across organizational levels.
  • Drive and experience to understand energy product and willingness to educate brokers on solutions - not just a low price, and apply our competitive advantages to meet or exceed customer needs.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills including presentation and excel skills.
  • Desire and experience to analyze data and make insights for brokers that challenge the way they think about energy procurement, their business or our business with them.
  • Positive professional demeanor and appearance to act as a positive representative of the team and our company.
  • Desire to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal communication and negotiating skills to ensure issues are identified early and feasible solutions are developed on a timely basis.
  • Ability to adapt to changing industry demands and internal and external factors.
  • Detail oriented with strong organization and follow-through skills.
  • Must be self-directed and able to learn business and new products quickly.
