Assistant Scientist / Associate Scientist - CMC

Empirico, a clinical-stage biotechnology company that combines unmatched expertise in human genetics-driven target discovery with world-class capabilities in siRNA medicines is seeking a chemist with an interest in solid-phase oligonucleotide synthesis and analytics. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated, creative scientist to be a vital member of our team.

Responsibilities:

• Your responsibilities will include supporting solid-phase synthesis and analytical efforts for the development of siRNA medicines. The ideal candidate will have experience in organic and analytical chemistry. You will be expected to –
• Perform solid-phase synthesis, purification, and characterization of oligonucleotides and oligonucleotide conjugates
• Analyze, interpret, and communicate synthetic and analytical results
• Present results at group meetings to senior staff
• Troubleshoot and optimize current procedures
• Ability to multitask and work on several projects simultaneously
• Maintain inventory of reagents and consumables 

Requirements:

• This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with an understanding of organic and analytical chemistry
• Experience working in a chemistry lab
• Experience with High-Performance Liquid Chromatography
• Desire to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• 1-3 years of relevant work experience, ideally in solid-phase synthesis, is preferred
• Analytical or purification method development experience using RPIP-HPLC, AEX-HPLC, UV, NMR, LCMS, MALDI, and HRMS is highly desired
• Applicants must have authorization to work in the U.S.

The estimated annual base salary range for this role is $60,000 to $80,000. Individual compensation decisions will be based on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills.
