What you will do:
The Assistant Safety Manager provides direct support to the Safety Manager and is familiar with and can perform all duties as needed or assigned. Duties and assignments will ensure compliance and consistent application and messaging for all safety programs and policies as required by federal, state or other regulatory agencies. The position will use independent judgement and will be responding to questions of safety in the work place and is responsible for managing confidential and sensitive information related to work place injuries
Must Haves:
- Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and three year’s work experience in safety industry.
- 10 - hour general industry OSHA card. 30 – hour general industry to be completed by end of first year.
- Proficiency in business related software, i.e.; MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and others.
- Ability to travel throughout company territory in personal vehicle.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to present training materials in-person or virtually.
- Must have valid current Arizona Driver’s License, current auto insurance and an acceptable driving record as defined by company’s auto insurance carrier.
- Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with all individuals.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- *Demonstrates company’s values at all times
- Review of all submitted incident reports for accuracy and thoroughness for both employee and customer/donor events.
- *Initiate CCTV review of all submitted incident reports for both employee and customer/donor events. Appropriately archiving the files in a folder.
- *Submit worker’s compensation and general liability claims as needed.
- Maintain and manage internal document control log for tracking of employee.
- *Coordinate and track days with no injuries to support achievements and awards.
- Assist in the case management of all worker’s compensation claims to included tracking and reminders of medical appointments.
- Assist in performing incident review of all near miss, first aid and medical injuries. Medical injury reviews must be done in-person.
- Assist in the submission of documents related to safety to external regulatory agencies.
- Coordinate and schedule required compliance training for safety committee as assigned.
- Administer safety consultant program.
- Present at monthly safety committee meeting and New Employee Orientation as assigned or in the absence of the Safety Manager.
- *Perform safety consultations at stores/departments as assigned.
- Assist with annual updates and distribution of safety manuals and safety data sheet binders.
- Schedule and coordinate annual safety inspections with third party vendors and risk management professionals.
- Will be assigned to rotating on-call schedule.
- Assist with special projects and events.
- Other duties as assigned.
