Serves as the primary manager of Newsroom Philippines and assists the Public Affairs Manager in gathering, organizing, analyzing, and presenting information to support decision-making, relationship-building efforts, and Area priorities. 

This position helps increase understanding of the Church through effective communication, strategic stakeholder engagement, and the timely sharing of stories that highlight faith, families, humanitarian efforts, temples, and community involvement.

Responsibilities
  • Manages Newsroom Philippines, including content planning, writing, editing, publishing, and coordination with contributors throughout the Philippines Area. 

  • Identifies, researches, writes, and edits news releases, feature stories, speeches, briefing documents, reports, presentations, and other communication materials. 

  • Gathers, organizes, and reports information regarding opinion leaders, stakeholders, emerging issues, trends, and opportunities that may affect the Church. 

  • Assists in building and maintaining relationships with media representatives, government officials, interfaith leaders, educators, business leaders, and community stakeholders. 

  • Supports Public Affairs initiatives, including humanitarian activities, stakeholder engagement programs, temple-related events, media fellowship activities, and community outreach efforts. 

  • Plans and coordinates events, conferences, trainings, leadership visits, media engagements, and special projects. 

  • Coordinates logistics including event programs, schedules, travel arrangements, flights, hotels, ground transportation, guest management, visitor itineraries, and meeting coordination. 

  • Serves as host, moderator, master of ceremonies, or project coordinator as assigned. 

  • Supports training and coordination of Communication Councils, volunteers, and priesthood leaders. 

  • Assists in monitoring and responding to communication issues, emerging concerns, and crisis communication situations. 

  • Maintains stakeholder records, media lists, project documentation, and reporting systems. 

  • Coordinates with Church departments, vendors, volunteers, and external stakeholders to ensure successful project implementation. 

  • Provides regular reports, recommendations, and strategic communication support to Public Affairs leadership. 

Qualifications

 

        Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Political Science, International Relations, Social Sciences, or a related field. 

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Public Affairs, Communications, Journalism, Media Relations, Government Relations, Public Relations, Stakeholder Engagement, Event Management, or related fields. 

  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills. 

  • Strong project management, organizational, and event management skills. 

  • Experience coordinating multiple projects, events, and stakeholders simultaneously. 

  • Experience preparing reports, presentations, correspondence, and communication materials for leadership. 

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and related collaboration tools. 

 

      Preferred

  • Experience working with media organizations, government agencies, NGOs, interfaith organizations, or community stakeholders. 

  • Experience with content management systems, digital publishing, social media, or Newsroom operations. 

  • Experience managing volunteers, Communication Councils, or stakeholder networks. 

  • Familiarity with Church programs, communication guidelines, and Public Affairs principles. 

Skills Required
