The Assistant Project Manager 3 provides business and administrative support to project management, facilitating the successful planning and coordination of activities on designated mechanical projects. In this role, the APM assists project managers in achieving goals and objectives within established time frames and financial parameters, sharing accountability for the financial health, profitability, and operational success of each project.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in plan and specification analysis in order to determine clear and consistent interpretations of construction documents.
  • Navigate and use Egan’s project management systems and processes, including Milestone Based Delivery (MBD).
  • Promotes a positive safety culture by ensuring Egan’s safety policies and goals are communicated and followed on assigned projects.
  • Advise project management of potential problems, work interferences, schedule difficulties, and the like, as it relates to assigned duties. Learn how Egan can circumvent and/or resolve such problems.
  • Compose and edit letters, memos, reports, and procedures; assist with change orders, project billings, and change request pricing.
  • Oversee and/or process day-to-day administrative items (i.e. supply requisitions, RFI’s, submittals, shop drawings, procurement, take-offs, etc.) as directed.
  • Prepare special reports, studies, and statistical analysis per supervisor’s request. May require research, development and/or interpretation of data with little supervision or instruction.
  • Assist with monitoring subcontractors, project scheduling, and cost control.
  • Assist with the research and preparation of field change requests to resolve design issues.
  • Participate in the continuous updating and accurate generation of as-built documents.
  • Attend project coordination and owner/contractor/architect/engineer meetings as directed.
  • Assume a proactive approach to career development. Utilize available resources within Egan, as well as request alternative instruction to learn how to become a successful project manager.
  • Solicit and review project submittals; coordinate with project manager and purchasing.
  • Build strong internal partnerships; work collaboratively with other Egan groups and mechanical field teams to support Egan’s Mission, Vision and Values.
  • Use basic understanding of financials and reporting to support a PM in related responsibilities.
  • Perform additional duties and assignments as requested/needed.
Requirements:
  • 2-year associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent level of technical training and related construction experience).
  • 2+ years of construction and/or general business experience.
  • Travel to jobsites and client sites may be required.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Courteous, professional, diplomatic, and highly motivated.
  • Ability to effectively complete work independently and collaboratively.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.

  • Must obtain OSHA-30 certification within six (6) months from date of hire (if not already certified).
Working Conditions:
  • Performance of duties will be in the office, at customer sites, and job sites as needed.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
  • Exposure to loud noise, dirt, and exposure to the elements are to be expected on job sites.
  • Climbing ladders/stairs, uneven ground, bending, kneeling, and twisting are to be expected on job sites.

Salary Range: $72,000-$82,000 (subject to such factors as experience, education, and/or skill set) plus potential annual discretionary bonus.

Hybrid: This role is eligible for our hybrid work model. To ensure a strong start, we ask for a minimum of 90 days in the office at the start to wrap your arms around the role, build essential in-person connections, and gain the organizational knowledge needed for success before transitioning to our hybrid schedule.
