Assistant Program Director

Function/Scope:

The Assistant Program Director, under general direction, facilitates research team interactions and progress for research proposal efforts within the college and between institutions that are part of the NSF E-CORE ORION project. Identifies funding sources and solicitations and assists in organizing research teams to target such funding. The assistant director supports faculty, staff, and administration in developing proposals, identifying potential funding opportunities and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and university regulations on all proposals and awards.

· Possesses a comprehensive understanding of the research capabilities of the college and how they align with university research priorities.

· Supports strategic planning efforts of proposal teams, including logistics, alignment to solicitation and agency guidelines, and coordination of review teams.

· Develops tools and guidance documents related to proposal development and checklists for solicitation components. Provides support in proposal narrative development, review, consolidation, and editing.

· Coordinates agency on-site and reverse-site visits.

· Networks with offices and organizations on- and off-campus in support of proposal development and promotion of faculty.

· Facilitates planning and linkages with existing funded projects or research efforts, including smaller proposal efforts, that will complement or could be leveraged to the larger proposal effort.

· Manages faculty awards and explores a range of internal and external awards available to support and recognize the teaching, service, and research of departmental faculty.

· Supports faculty at other ORION institutions in the identification of funding and the preparation of proposals in coordination with that institution’s research office staff.

· Supervises staff in the research office of the College of Engineering and Computer Science

· Advises administrators, faculty, and staff on UTulsa policies and procedures with regard to grant activities with the research enterprise.

· Supervises assigned support staff and temporary employees.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Required:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.

Preferred:

Master's degree from an accredited university.

EXPERIENCE

Required:

· Two (2) years of relevant experience, such as processing/reviewing contracts and agreements, budgets and financial analysis, writing or editing grant/proposal/contract documents; or government, non-profit administration experience or

· One (1) years of specific experience in the administration, preparation, and processing of research grant proposals and/or awards.
