Position Duties

The Department of Management and Organizations in the Sellinger School of Business and Management at Loyola University Maryland invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Human Resource Management (HRM) and Organizational Behavior (OB), beginning in Fall 2027. This is a full-time, in-person appointment based at Loyola’s Baltimore campus.
 

We seek candidates whose teaching and research align with the department’s needs in HRM and OB. The primary emphasis for this position is teaching both HRM and OB courses at the undergraduate and MBA levels. The successful candidate will be expected to develop new courses in areas such as Strategic HRM, People Analytics, Human Capital Consulting, and related topics as the department builds its HRM and OB offerings.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in HRM, OB, or I/O Psychology or a closely related discipline, or be near completion, by the time of appointment. Preference will be given to candidates with a record of effective teaching in HRM and OB, experience designing and launching new courses, an active program of peer-reviewed research, and the ability to help lead the continued curriculum development over time.
The standard teaching load is six courses per year (three per semester) with one course release each of the first two years. Courses are offered in both in-person and online formats and frequently incorporate high-impact and experiential learning practices.
The successful applicant will show evidence of or potential for excellence in teaching, a productive program of scholarly research, and a commitment to service to the department, institution, and discipline.

The Sellinger School of Business and Management is accredited by AACSB International. Within Sellinger, the Department of Management and Organizations offers majors in Management, International Business, Sustainability Management, an interdisciplinary major in Management & Psychology, several minors, and the largest specialization in the Professional's MBA program. The department is building out its program portfolio, and this position will help carry that work forward in Human Resources and Organizational Behavior.
Compensation Range: $130,000-$160,000

Required qualifications
  • A Ph.D. or equivalent in human resource management, organizational behavior, industrial-organizational psychology, or a closely related field, conferred no later than May 31, 2027.
  • Demonstrated evidence of, or clear promise of, teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels in Human Resource Management (HRM) and Organizational Behavior (OB).
  • Demonstrated record of, or clear promise of, publishing in high-quality, peer-reviewed scholarly journals to maintain Scholarly Academic (SA) status under AACSB and Sellinger guidelines.
  • A commitment to Loyola's Jesuit mission and to teaching that serves the whole person and fosters a culture of inclusion and academic excellence.
     
Preferred qualifications
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Strategic HRM, People Analytics, Human Capital Consulting, selection and retention, performance management, or total rewards.
  • Experience developing or teaching human resource management curriculum, courses, or academic programs.
  • Applied or professional experience and connections in the HR field, including ties to organizations such as SHRM.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive teaching and to working with students and colleagues to reflect Loyola's mission of care for the whole person (cura personalis)

Final compensation offers are determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, job-related experience, internal equity, and alignment with organizational budget.
