The Department of Computer Science at Eastern Connecticut State University is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Assistant Professor of Computer Science (Tenure Track) position. Eastern is Connecticut’s Public Liberal Arts University and is located in Willimantic, Connecticut which is 1.5 hours from Boston and 2.5 hours from New York City. Eastern is one of four universities in the Connecticut State College and University System (CSCU). The position also offers substantial health and retirement benefits.

 Applicants must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence, scholarship, student advisement, and departmental, university and community service. Eastern is especially interested in faculty with demonstrated excellence in teaching computer science in a liberal arts curriculum and sensitivity to diverse populations and perspectives. 
The department is seeking individuals with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Software Engineering, Computer Architecture, Computer Algorithms, Design and Implementation of Programming Languages, and Operating Systems. 
Position Description: The applicant is expected to teach undergraduate computer science courses at all levels. The workload is equivalent to 12 credit hours per semester. Responsibilities for the position also include curriculum development, research, undergraduate student research mentoring, advising, and service to the department.
 
Qualifications:
The candidate must have: 
  • Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field, completed before August 2027.  Commitment to undergraduate education and scholarly research in a dynamic discipline and a liberal arts environment. 
  • Demonstrated excellence or strong potential to teach Java Programming and upper-level courses in either Software Engineering, Computer Architecture, Computer Algorithms, Design and Implementation of Programming Languages, or Operating Systems.
  • Ability to teach core courses as well as develop specialized electives.

Compensation and Employee Benefits: 
The Assistant Professor of Computer Science (Tenure Track) is compensated at the Assistant Professor of Computer Sciences salary level in accordance with Connecticut State University American Association of University Professors (CSU-AAUP) Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement.
