Bridgewater College invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Health and Human Sciences (Athletic Training) position beginning August 10, 2026.

The successful candidate will teach in the College’s graduate Athletic Training program and contribute to undergraduate health and human sciences courses based on their expertise. We are seeking an educator and athletic training professional who is committed to preparing future practitioners through high-quality teaching, mentoring, and professional engagement.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Teach graduate-level courses in Athletic Training and related undergraduate Health and Human Sciences courses
  • Advise, mentor, and recruit Athletic Training and Health and Human Sciences students
  • Contribute to curriculum assessment, program development, and continuous improvement
  • Participate in departmental, school, College, and professional service
  • Maintain an active record of scholarship and professional engagement appropriate for a tenure-track faculty position
  • Help foster a student-centered learning environment that supports academic and professional success

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Earned terminal degree in Athletic Training or a health sciences field with a specialization in Athletic Training (such as a Ph.D. or DAT)
  • Board of Certification Athletic Trainer credential (ATC)
  • Current Virginia athletic training license, or eligibility and willingness to obtain licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Ability to teach graduate Athletic Training courses
  • Strong communication skills and commitment to collaborative, student-centered teaching

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credential, or willingness to obtain the credential
  • Prior teaching experience in Athletic Training or Health and Human Sciences
  • Experience mentoring students in clinical or professional preparation settings

GENERAL INFORMATION:  Bridgewater College was founded in 1880 as a coeducational liberal arts college to serve the local community. Located in the scenic Shenandoah Valley, just minutes outside of Harrisonburg and within driving distance of Charlottesville, Washington D.C., and Richmond, Bridgewater is home to a total student body of approximately 1,450 from 27 states and 19 countries.
