Position: Assistant Principal - College, Career and Military Readiness (CCMR)

JOB GOAL

Responsible for assisting the principal to provide the instructional and administrative leadership necessary for addressing student achievement and overall school effectiveness for College, Career and Military Readiness (CCMR).


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of two years secondary teaching experience.
  • Teaching certificate preferred.
  • Master’s degree from accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Academic and College Counseling experience is preferred.
  • Texas Counselor certification is preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in development and implementation of the school master schedule and student schedules according to the district guidelines. 
  • Oversee and Implement the state and SST CCMR and Guidance Program.
  • Oversee, evaluate and coach campus CCMR Advisors.
  • Oversee the students' post-secondary readiness and graduation requirements.
  • Oversee and evaluate CTE/AP/DC/On Ramps programs and teachers’ instruction.
  • Communicate regularly with the district academic personnel to enforce and monitor the district academic guidelines.
  • Supervise campus testing coordinator and support with campus assessment planning.
  • Lead student - parent education and college awareness programs. 
  • Implement and review data related to common assessments such as DA,NWEA MAP,STAAR EOC,PSAT,SAT,ACT,AP,TSI,PLTW EOC. 
  • Support instructional staff's needs with academic components of Student Information System (SIS) such as, gradebook, report cards, etc. 
  • Remain abreast of current CCMR and post-secondary trends, instructional strategies, practices, developments, instructional materials and software programs.
  • Oversee and manage senior graduation events and programs.
  • Coordinate partnerships with Institutions of Higher Education (IHE) for Dual Credit programs. 
  • Coordinate partnerships with Entities for Industry Based Certification programs (IBC).
  • Participate in workshops, in-services, and other administrative staff development activities.
  • Assist in planning activities for staff development.
  • Perform other academic related duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
  • Ability to organize special programs for assigned campus.
  • Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Ability to analyze data
  • Ability to use effective interview techniques, effective public speaking skills, and problem-solving skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Light Work: may require occasional light lifting.
  • Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.
  • Position is in office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.
  • Moderate travel is required.
