Pay: $62.15/hr. ($57.06/hr. base rate + $5.09 H&W)

POSITION SUMMARY INFORMATION: DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS

Position Overview: In this role, you will assist with supervising nursing operations and supporting the delivery of healthcare services within the detention facility while ensuring compliance with government detention standards, clinical protocols, and healthcare regulations. You will work closely with nursing staff, medical providers, behavioral health personnel, and facility leadership to support daily clinical operations, staffing coordination, patient care activities, and healthcare documentation processes. This position requires strong clinical knowledge, leadership skills, professionalism, and the ability to manage healthcare operations within a secure correctional environment while maintaining high standards of resident care and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with supervising nursing staff and coordinating daily healthcare operations, staffing assignments, and clinical workflows within the detention facility.
  • Support nursing personnel with patient care activities, medical documentation, medication administration procedures, and operational guidance.
  • Monitor healthcare services to ensure compliance with government detention standards, infection prevention protocols, nursing regulations, and facility procedures.
  • Review nursing documentation, medication records, treatment plans, incident reports, and clinical charts for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with coordinating resident medical appointments, emergency healthcare responses, intake screenings, and follow-up treatment activities.
  • Support training activities, staff development initiatives, and clinical competency requirements for nursing personnel.
  • Monitor medical supply inventories, pharmaceutical accountability, and healthcare equipment readiness to support uninterrupted clinical operations.
  • Coordinate communication between nursing staff, physicians, behavioral health personnel, detention officers, and outside healthcare providers regarding resident care needs.
  • Assist with audits, inspections, compliance reviews, and operational assessments related to healthcare services and nursing operations.
  • Maintain professionalism, sound clinical judgment, confidentiality, and effective leadership while supporting safe and efficient healthcare operations within the detention facility.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Must possess a current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arizona.
  • Must possess a minimum of six (6) years of nursing experience.
  • Must possess one (1) year of supervisory nursing experience.
  • Must possess a current CPR/BLS certification and maintain any professional credentials/certification appropriate to the job specialty.
  • Correctional, detention, public health, emergency, or inpatient nursing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of nursing management, leadership, staff development, and adult learning principles.
  • Knowledge of emergency nursing, ambulatory care, mental health, chronic disease management, and infection control.
  • Ability to supervise multidisciplinary healthcare staff and manage clinical operations effectively.
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional composure and adapt to rapidly changing operational environments.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical nursing practice standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with federal agencies, public health authorities, and healthcare partners.
  • Must be able to provide proof of citizenship or legal US work authorization.
  • If prior active-duty military, must provide copies of DD214(s) showing discharge condition.
  • Must consent to fingerprinting.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Clean criminal record and ability to pass a comprehensive background check and security screening.
  • Ability to pass a preemployment medical assessment and drug screening.
  • Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and in high-stress situations.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Work Environment:

Employees may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.

Physical Requirements:

Employees may be required to remain in a stationary position, stand, push, pull, climb, kneel, crawl, balance, squat, bend, and reach. Employees may be also required to use gear to move items around, including, but not limited to, carts and dollies. Employees may also be occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds.
